u pay the government..... THUGNIFICENT!
Insurance goes up, and Daddy takes the keys away for a month. you'll be looking for p/t work at Burger King
Either you or your hired legal representative (i.e. lawyer) goes in on your court date, you appear before the Judge, plead no contest and ask to take a defensive driving course...pay your fees...rinse and repeat...
...or you can go to court on your assigned court date, when they call you up (cause you'll talk to someone before you talk to the judge) and ask what your going to do, plead deferred adjudication. They will then ask you how much you can afford to pay from your fine. Last time I paid $145 from a $210 fine. They'll take your money in cash, check or payment and your speeding ticket will be wiped clean from your record as long as you don't have any other similar violations within the next 90 days.
You will recieve a letter from a lawyer or lawyers about a week before your court date saying they can do this for you but they will charge you for it. It's cheaper to go on your own.
Good Luck!
You have different options. Since its your first, you can take defensive driving. You can pay it. You can fight it or you can take probation.
Yea, for the first, its better to take defensive driving, because you aren't on probation, in case for some reason you end up getting another shortly after that one.
Don't pay it, change your name and join the Taliban.
If you are in Texas the defensive driving approach is the way to go.
If you are not (your fave team is the Pacers, after all) you might want to get advice from ppl who know state law in your area.
If you do defensive driving, do the comedy one. They let you watch Saturday Night Live and give you free pizza on the weekends.
Best advise right here. ^^^^^^^^^^^
Whatever you do- do not get a lawyer!! They don't do anything that you can't do.
If you go in and pay the amount (without defensive driving, deferred adjudication...etc) then it will go on your record.
Take defensive driving and it will not show up on your state record only local and the insurance agencies don't have access to that. Additionally, if you take defensive driving, you will be able to use that towards your insurance agency and get like a 10-15% off your premium.
Do it.
Was it SAPD? Where? What officer?
I don't know why, but it'd be really funny if it ended up being you.
Or you can do it online, while watching SNL and eating pizza--in your underwear!
Wait. You got a ticket on Christmas?
That's lame.
I thought you can't do defensive driving if you're 25 and above the speed limit?
Good think the OP wasn't going 90, then.
I hought that the only restriction about doing defensive driving is you cannot take the course more than once in a twelve month period of time.
I could be wrong though.
you should be slick like me and not get caught.
drive with those radar things so you get warned when cops are around.
yeeeeeeee
You and Danyo are both right.

It's a Christmas miracle!![]()
That would be funny!
But I doubt it was me- I rarely give tickets.
So what you're saying is I can test the top speed of my truck on the Southside during Dogwatch?
Sweet!
