Prior to the season, I made two bets.

One bet was with ATRAIN. I bet $100 that the Houston Texans wouldn't make it to the playoffs. Well, no playoffs for the Texans this year and I've yet to hear from ATRAIN.

    Will he be a ?

The other bet was with Reverend Midge (the formally known as "Midgetonadonkey"). I bet a case of my favorite beer that the Texans wouldn't have a winning season. Of course, now he says that the bet was that the Texans wouldn't have a losing season. He's trying to make a case of 8-8 being a non-losing season. Well, it aint winning.

    Will he be a ?

Sounds like midge is trying to back out if he's changing the terms on you but I think he will man up. A case of beer is a small price to pay to keep your honor.

I'm wondering if jgw is going to out on my bet with him that the Colts will roll the Pats up and smoke them in January. Since, you know, according to him since the Pats are 15-0 that means the free world should get on their knees and take turns *radio edit* the whole roster.

ATRAIN I would pay the man if I were you... a bet's a bet. But that's just if I were you. You make the call!

Thinking out loud: Who makes a $100 bet that the Houston Texans would make the playoffs? Someone was a little to high on Matt Schaub.

I just don't think 15-0 deserves my respect with that cake of a schedule. The Pats are dangerously close to being 12-3 if not for some very lucky breaks that aren't likely to happen to them again in the playoffs. I already saved a blank check just in case I need to make good on our bet. Sucks if the Pats don't do their part and get there though since it voids everything.

there's no such think as luck, but what team that goes 16-0 isn't going to need some breaks along the way? the 1972 dolphins are a joke compared to these Patriots.

"First, the Dolphins taught the world that schedule strength means everything. The Dolphins played the third-easiest schedule in the modern era. Their opponents were 70-122, a .367 percentage that was topped only by the 1975 Minnesota Vikings and the 1999 St. Louis Rams. As it turned out, the Dolphins didn't play a team with a winning record during the regular season."

The Pats were a time out away from being defeated.

I honestly think that a healthy Colts team will beat them in the playoffs.
    I guess we'll see.

peewee did you win your fantasy league? I won mine thanks to Moss and the ans D and the Vikings choking balls last nite since the other guy had Minny's defense and kicker. I was kind of worried because my WRs not named Randy Moss and my RBs combined to score like... 9 FF points.

No rational argument can be made for 8-8 being a winning season.

Is 8-8 a losing season? Of course not, right? Then how the is it a winning season?

  17. #17
8-8 is a push, but since the terms were that they would have a winning season it's a loss for migdet. You have to stipulate 8-8 as a push before the bet to get that one.

    Winning season = .500 - 1.000
    Losing season < .500

Thats the way I view it. I'm not sure there's a textbook defention of "winning season".

yeah I am a man of my word when bets are concerned HOWEVER, someone pointed something out to me. Now since I have never met pee wee in real life I don't really know him, however I know of his internet persona and from that others made me ask the question, "Would pee wee pay me if he had lost?" All signs were pointing to no. Also the bet was for 100 bucks in a bar tab. Getting to know the pee wee persona online has also pointed me in the direction of, would I really want to get drunk with this guy? I should make a poll and ask the question, do you think pee wee would have paid up if he lost the bet. There is no way to really know but I say no I don't think he would. Yes it doesnt matter I lost and SHOULD pay up, but im still debating if I should or shouldn't. If you doubt if I pay up on bets or not ask Melmart or just look at my sig. I put it up right away and as much as I want to take it off, im not going to until baseball season starts. J.T., what do you think, do you think pee wee would have paid up?

I think 8-8 is classified as not a losing season, so I think if they finish 8-8 then the bet is null and void. Midge if I were you I wouldn't pay up if they go 8-8.

Yeah I was high on the team and I still think we would have made playoffs if we would have stayed healthy. Thats just my opinion though.

Well, I made a bet that $100 bet with JGW and the only escape clause is if the Colts or Pats fail to play against each other in the playoffs. I intend to mail him a check if the Colts lose, but typically when someone instigates a bet they are both confident they will win and willing to pay up if they lose. So check's in the mail if they lose that game. Even though I don't personally know JGW and only know him through this site, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt until they give me a reason to think otherwise.

So you ask me if I think peewee would have paid up if he lost? I'll say yes until he comes on here and says otherwise. Austin and San Antonio aren't that far apart, and the cool thing to do would be to pay up in person and have some friendly drinks over it. Yeah there's the whole meeting up with people you met on the internet is kind of shady thing, but I think many people, me included, will tell you that doesn't really apply to SpursTalk.

But if you don't want to pay up, that's your call. It's not what I would do. I backed out of one bet before, and that was a bet over a Spurs game that the Spurs would win by 9 against the Mavs one time... They ended up winning by 8 or 10, don't really remember, but the guy I made the bet with gave me the option of backing out since I bought the tickets to the game.
