ok guys, heres the deal
When I restart my machine, I get nothing but my wallpaper on my screen, the only way to access stuff is to go through the task manager and start the program manually. And it wont let me get to everything, just some of the programs, like firefox and IE.
I dont restart the computer alot, I normally just keep it on, but when I do have to restart the machine, I get nothing. It wasnt doing this up until about a week or so ago. I was just going to do a system restore, but I cant access that either.
what the do I do to fix this .
at the task manager run explorer....that'll get you "windows" back...then click on start...run...msconfig....startup...deselect all of those...then click on the services tab....put a check in hide all microsoft servies...deselect all of those...then restart...see what happens. if it comes up normally....then let me know and i'll tell ya what to do next

Okay, now I'll go back and actually read the thread.
Not to sound like one of those tech support bags, but have you added any new programs in the last week?
If blizz' suggestions don't work, can you still start in safe mode?
Also, are you running XP or Vista?
