Daniel Day Lewis.....not even close.
tommy lee jones or daniel day lewis?
this debate was going on at work last night...what do yall think?
Your must be located in SA for a discussion like this to even take place. Homer.
DDL by far
...whatever, its very close. i think the mainstream movies in Tommy Lee Jones filmography skews perception. i give the slight edge to Daniel Day Lewis, but its pretty close.
but Tommy Lee Jones can take him in a "who's the bigger genuine asshole" contest easily.
Tommy Lee Jones, but that is just me.

Daniel Day Lewis wins
Daniel Day Lewis is very talented... The guy can just act.
Tommy Lee Jones is really good at playing that one character.
You forgot this one.
Daniel Day Lewis is Jordan and Tommy Lee Jones is Dominick.
i thought he was pretty good as two face
You are right.....JUST YOU.
Daniel Day Lewis is grossly over-the-top in every single performance. It can work in films that are suitably "epic" (Gangs of New York, There Will be Blood, etc.), but can be painful to watch in others.
Tommy Lee Jones has had his share of over-the-top performances (including Dwight McCluskey in Natural Born Killers, which was a performance/film that I actually liked) and has been in some absolutely craptastic films, but is much more capable of being subtle and believable.
I concur. I did like Lewis in The Last of the Mohicans though.
But Tommy does have an Oscar so buh.
I like Tommy Lee Jones - he's a good actor, and plays his parts well. But he usually plays Tommy Lee Jones in every movie (that I've seen, of course). Daniel Day Lewis actually plays different roles/characters, and does them quite well.
So, I'd go with DDL on this one.
Homer? Me? I wasn't even the one in the discussion at work...I over heard it, and my choice was DDL...so... you and have a nice day![]()
But I love Men in Black.![]()
You obviously haven't seen much of Lewis' work.
+1 He's got the range of a Daisy air rifle. That's not to say that I don't enjoy his movies, he's just always the same guy.
I have, actually, I just obviously have a different view of his skill/mannerisms as an actor than you do.
That's kind of the beauty of personal opinion.
DDL plays over top when characters are written to be over the top. The Gangs and Blood roles were over the top characters in the books they were written for. DDL has by far more range, but Jones has done great work in the past.
Jones is a and a half. Don't ever approach the old er at central market.
This shouldn't even be a conversation.
Lewis is in a class of his own.
