Cool. I'm too cheap to buy it though.
I don't see anything wrong with it.
You are going to let this stop you?
here's a cool one!

Learn to play real guitars.
Call me when you can beat this kid...
http://www.break.com/index/9-year-ol...ero-level.html
We got it for Christmas but my brother put a bunch of re ed stickers on the guitar so now I don't like it. I finally beat Medium but wow I don't think I can do hard.
stress, where did you get those stickers and stuff?
I can teach you to play the Stairway to Heaven intro as good as Jimmy Page in half the time it takes to clear one difficulty level of a Guitar Hero game...
I don't understand this mindset. I don't hear anyone complaining that people who play GTA games should go out and murder cops and destroy property. It's not an instrument and is not meant to be an instrument. It's a game.
doesn't anyone realize this game is like the reality tv of music
But it's meant to simulate an instrument. Killing cops in place of playing GTA doesn't even relate to this. Guitar Hero is popular exclusively because it enables people who are too lazy to learn guitar to feel like they can play it, even if it's on a plastic, remote, extremely undersized guitar remote.
Playing an instrument is a skill you'll keep for life with practice. Guitar Hero is something that won't be around ten years from now.
31 years from now. . .

No, guitar hero is a game you play for s and giggles. Nobody equates it to playing a real guitar. There aren't people out there trying to decide between buying an Epiphone Les Paul or Guitar Hero. It's not even in the same ballpark. There are games that use a plastic gun to simulate shooting, does that mean those people should get real guns instead and blow people away on the street since it's meant to simulate a gun?
To me, your hard line stance on this tells me a lot more about your personal insecurity than anything about people who play a game. I've played bass and drums for over 10 years but I don't feel the need to trash people playing these games because I think everyone should play bass or drums.
People play those games because they can't or don't want to buy a real gun and shoot real people.
People play Guitar Hero because they can't or don't want to buy a real guitar and play real music.
The game really is the reality TV of music. I can't count how many people (almost exclusively women), saying "Hey that's that one Guitar Hero song!" These artists that contribute music to Guitar Hero are probably being heard more on these games than on their own record sales. The game was born out of a stupid Japanese fad. Pokemon and Tamagachi are dead, Guitar Hero will follow.
I'm not going to argue with you about it, but that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. People play video games for entertainment, not because they want to shoot people or play guitar but don't have the guts. It's the same thing with movies, all entertainment. I think you realize how dumb you sound but your ego has you refusing to admit it. It's cool, but life can be a lot better if you stop clinging to irrational hate against off the wall things.
Besides, who cares if it is a fad or not? It's a game. A game that has gotten the better of you.
Buy me a guitar and we've got ourselves a deal.
oh and I play because it's fun. People that take it too seriously to the point where they think they're Tom Morello himself I have a problem with but I don't see what's wrong with playing it with some friends once in a while.
Just like it's clearly gotten the better of the kid in the video posted above, who has now dedicated his life to scoring 750,000 points on Guitar Hero.
Why do you guys play Guitar Hero and not Rock Band? Isn't Rock Band better?
(We got LJ's younger brothers Rock Band for Christmas - they already had Guitar Hero)
The kid is 9 years old! I don't think he's had time to dedicate his life to anything yet.
I tried that Rock Band drum game out at the store several weeks ago - it was pretty fun.
