For me, it would have to be Jake Delhomme in the SB against the Patriots. I watched a replay of this game last night on NFL Network. Still the best SB of all time, IMO.

No one gave the Panthers any chance, but the dude played his freakin butt off and nearly upset the Pats, and wasn't intimidated by them one bit. Even that dirty POS cheapshot artist Rodney Harrison tried to intimidate him by shoving him after he threw a TD, and Delhomme told him to off. Only if John Kasay hadn't kicked it out of bounds...

If you want the most heart in a SB loss, look no further than Steve McNair. Dude played his guts out and got 1 yard away.

Thurman Thomas in the loss to the Giants was great too.

Peyton Manning beating the Patriots with a bleeding, bum thumb on his throwing hand.

Uhh... McNair had a nice final drive, that ended up a yard short. Delhomme actually scored a TD on his final drive, only to have the game taken away from him with a stupid kicker's mistake. Delhomme also made plays throughout the game, and every time the Patriots made a play or a drive, he would come right back with another. McNair was very average until the end of the game.

Let's not forget that Delhomme was pretty much a no-name in the league until that game. No one expected much of anything from him, and he delivered time and time again in that SB. The guy played his heart out.

uhh two of delhomme's TD's were due to totally blown coverages, as admitted by Belichick himself. So "playing with heart" = "hitting Mushin Muhammad when no defenders are within 15 yards of him"????

as SpursDynasty would say, Delhomme was just making throws he was suppose to make against a New England defense that played absolutely atrocious all night. Seriously, Quincy Carter could have dropped 4 TD's on the Pats that day.

He also led some very methodical and sustained drives at crucial times as well. And of all people to talk about throwing it up to someone and letting them do all the work... thats all Brady did with Deion Branch in the SB against the Eagles. Brady threw a lot of AWFUL throws that Branch somehow came up with a number of times, when they should have really been picked off. Brady got a ring that year BECAUSE of Branch bailing his ass out.

how do you "just throw it up and let the receiver do it all" when nearly everything branch caught was timing routes over the middle? last i checked Deion Branch was a 5'-9" slot receiver. That's about as smart as saying Brady just throws it up and lets Wes Welker do all the work.

Kellen Winslow against Miami in a 1982 Divisional game. It lasted 4 hours and 3min. in the heat and humidity. Dude had to keep getting IV's just to stay in.

13 catches, 166 yards and blocked the game winning FG attempt by Miami.

You seem him being helped off the field at the end and you wonder how he is even standing.

Mushin Muhammad is 6-2 and slow as crap, while Steve Smith is also only like 5-9.

Deion Branch was having to go out WAY of his way to save Brady's god-awful throws.

In more current times, Randy Moss has to go out of his way to catch Brady's bombs because 80% of the time they are underthrown by 5 yards.

It really makes me sick how much credit Brady got this year when Moss did that.

The same way Peyton gets so much credit when Harrison and Wayne do most of it.

But Peyton has been known to throw the ball to where only his guy can get it. Brady has consistently been bailed out by his receivers. About the only thing Brady has over Manning as far as quarterbacking skill is he throws a prettier spiral.

IMO, he handles blitz pressure better than Manning too. He doesn't seem quite as jittery and knows how to move in the pocket as well as anyone we've ever seen to buy time. Well... at least when the rush is coming from the outside. If teams get pressure up the middle, then he just curls in a ball and drops to the ground like a puss.

I would have to agree with this one. He wouldn't let the Chargers lose that game.

Also, Jack Youngblood deserves props for playing with a stress fracture in his left leg during the 79-80 playoffs.

Brady's first playoff win in the 2002 Divisional Round vs the Raiders. The game that showed the Patriots were destined to prove doubters wrong. Coming back from 10 down to tie it and then driving in overtime especially with that 4th down conversion to David Patten and winning it in dramatic fashion was a thing of beauty.

Vinateri's kick in the snow and his kick in the superbowl were things of beauty. He was our x-factor. During that time you could be right about the Pats success without Adam. However this Pats team is so ing good they score touchdowns but they have a trustworthy kicker in Grad.

After only 6 years in the league I'm happy with their progress and know that one day they will be included in the one hit wonder list.
