Agreed. I think prisoners are s of the earth, but no human deserves to be treated that way. Certainly not in a country like ours.

Ever heard about the experiments where you take 100 random people, make 80 of them prisoners and the other 20 guards and see what happens? It very quickly descends into nightmarish bas isation and violence. Power corrupts absolutely.

That's what happens when you have a prison system run with inadequate independent oversight.

What were those experiments called? Arit-something or other. One was done by some professor in the 70s and wasnt recognized by the science world, where one was performed later under strict supervision and was recognized.

Don't know which one you mean specifically but there was also the Standford prison experiment to name some of these prison experiments.
