I think so. Not sure why, I just tend to have a feeling about these things. I'm not sure he has NBA-ready nuts.

You obviously don't know much about basketball.

Andrew Bogut will average a double-double next year and I would trade ANYONE and EVERYONE not named Duncan and Ginobili for him.

The guy's a total beast. He's basically everything Pop wishes Rasho was and he hasn't even played an NBA game yet.

I'm also a little skeptical, the guy wasn't in the toughest conference out there and really hasn't played aganist anything near the likes of the NBA elite.

I think he'll be alright, but not a force like Walton said. He's proven himself internationally and in the NCAA's. Of course we all know the NBA is a different story.

Better than Chris Mihm or Kwame Brown, but not perennial All-Star caliber.

    Well, color me convinced....

The only thing that impresses me about his game is his passing.

I've seen him play in person, and one thing that does impress me is that he plays with passion. I think he'll bring a lot of heart.

He has good hands and is good around the basket. He plays pretty long, a little like Duncan, which I think makes up for not being quite as athletic as some of the guys he goes against.

I don't think he'll wow people, but I think he's going to be consistent, and be solid.

I'd predict he'll be a 12pt 10 rebound guy his rookie year. He'll hold his own out there. There aren't too many 7 footers out there with skills these days.

Its cool to see another Renault F1 fan on the board, but please don't speak out your ass. No one in college ball has played against the nba elite, with the exception of Bogut and a few special cases.

He played as the starting C for Australia in the olympics and played Tim pretty decent, made the honorable mention for the all olympic team and finished 4th in rebounds per game and field goal percentage.

Against TD and the US team he had 11 and 8 with a block and a 3 thrown in the mix.

Bogut is one of the people coming into the nba who has played against nba level compe ion.

In college ball this season he has had some of his best games against major compe ion.

    vs. Channing Frye: 20p, 10r, 3a
    vs. Matt Nelson: 21p, 17r, 1b

    and then

    vs. LSU: 24p, 17r
    vs. Oklahoma: 10p, 11r, 7a, 2b
    vs. Kentucky: 20p, 12r

    and then as a freshman

    vs. Omeka Okafor: 10p, 7r, 1a, 1b
    vs. Rafael Araujo: 21p, 12r, 3a

All compe ion was either a first-round pick, likely to be a first-round pick or has highly skilled, top-quality big-man rotations.

I don't think he'll bust. But I don't think he'll have an instant impact in the league at the level of averaging a double-double right away.

I guess it probably depends on your definition of "bust."

I see him being a Wally Szczerbiak or Drew Gooden calibur player (not the same type of player, but the same impact). Now, Wally's been a good player in this league, but I think if he had been picked #1 overall, he'd be considered a disappointment.

Probably depends on the system too. He could really thrive with a team like the Kings, I think. But whatever team picks him is probably going to rely on him to be their primary weapon, and I don't think he's a top-dog kind of player.

Thats a good point, I love the guy to death and I don't even think he'll be a franchise player. However this is a weak draft, there is not clear cut franchise level players, ie Duncan, Iverson, LeBron to take with the no1.

Bogut may not come into the league an average 15 and 10 but he should be solid and as good a pick as anyone else at this stage.

Whoa, hey calm down there fella, look I know there is some national pride there alright, but is playing aganist the U.S. olympic team really the same as playing an 82 game season aganist these guys?

By the way: I rarely speak out of my ass, thank you very much.

No it isn't, but do you want to tell me how much experience, Tim Duncan, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Shaq, Drob and Hakeem against the nba elite before making the jump.

Thats what taking your game to the next level is about, you take your game to a place its never been before and see how it fares.

I don't know what you expect but when you bring an ignorant and weak take in a vain attempt to support your views you should expect to recieve some critism.

Wow, how about some blow back from the skeptical offense. Look I think we can both agree the guy is a beast in his league yes? My take was not about his game, it's about his mind, how is he going to react when the big lights are squarely on him? I mean, if he gets drafted by the Hawks don't you think that is going to be a little draining from a mental standpoint? Do you really think Woodson is going to bring out this guy's full potenial? If not Woodson what other coach in the league is going to want to go to Atlanta moreover other roleplayers?

    see how it fares.
Great point, how is he going to fare? Last I checked neither of us can see into the future. More over the name of the thread is will the guy be a BUST? Can you define bust? IMO it all depends on how much hype surrounds the guy, yes? By those standards is Yao Ming a bust? I don't know, did you except him to be Shaq? If so then yeah I guess he is a bust. The question is what do you expect the guy to be? If you except him to be a Shaq, Yao, or Duncan, then yeah there is more of a chance he, in the eyes of many, will be a bust. I see him being more of a Divac or Sabonis type big, anything less and yeah I'll consider him a bust.

you should expect to recieve some critism.
    The more the merrier.

Bogut has offense like Dirk but can rebound and play defense. He's got nads as well as skills.

I saw Bogut in the Tucson 1/2 games. His shot, quickness, and ballhandling are nowhere near Dirk's, and never will be.

He does seem to play better defense (not hard) and is a better passer, and does seem to have a good feel for pace and flow. I would like to see how he does playing against quality big men on a regular basis, instead of as an occasional treat.

The pressure did seem to get to him, as he missed a bunch of big FTs.

I see him maybe at the level of a more-mobile Ilgauskas.

^^ Probably a fair analysis at the moment.

Dirks shooting is crazy good and Bogut is no where near that, he can drain an occasional three and hits the mid ranger very well but has probs with free throws.

Finally I dont really see how anyone can say he will be a bust with such vindiction, if your looking for Lebron it prolly aint happening but Bogut may very well be one of the best Cs in the league. I don't think you can call that a "bust"

    Nice shooting touch
    Incredible footwork
    decent D
    Tough aussie mindset

    I think he'll do fine.

I love it, finding old threads to see what we were saying about people back then.

I think we can definitively say that Bogut has panned out into a solid NBA big man, albeit not worthy of the #1 pick. The Bucks would have been better off, obviously, with Chris Paul or Deron Williams.

He has the skills, but not the drive. He doesn't bring the intensity to be a team leader as a big night in and night out, but if the opposing team is the Spurs he seems to show up. If he did that against lesser teams as well on a consistent basis then he'd be regarded much better.

Basically, Bogut with half of Manu's compe iveness would be challenging for an all star appearance. Bogut as is comes close to being a bust.

I think he's been good enough to sign a big contract after this season... then mail it in for the rest of his career as a perpetual high-dollar piece of multi-player trades.

Where do you get that from, exactly? He seems to want to win.

Hard for any big man to succeed alongside chuckers like Redd and especially Williams, so it's hard to say.

Would Milwaukee have been better off with Paul or Deron Williams? Maybe. Hard to say.
