I agree. DJ is the only guard to block 7 shots in one NBA Final's game.

True. Bird said DJ was the best player he ever played with.

Besides, showing a dead guy a little respect isn't a bad thing.

Great, Great Player! I knew DJ and watched his career blossom. He was a great player and a great person. He had the game of a Ron Artest without the craziness. Just pure ability. He was one of the best defensive players to ever play the game. He won championships with Seattle and Boston and was a big part of those championships. His role was just as big in those championships as Bird, Mchale and Parrish. Without any of those players the Celtics don't win.

It may be a reach to say he was the best with players like Bird, JoJo White, Chief, and others but he definitely warrants recognition.

he probably meant it for something else. DJ was great when he played for the sonics and lead them to a championship. When he came into Boston, he was asked to play a backseat role behind Bird and McHale. And being that Bill Russel likes guys who are team players, that's probably where he is coming from.

It's a stretch... a long stretch, but i'm not totally adverse to it.

I saw a do entary on NBA.com about DJ that made it out like he was a difficult guy to play with in his time in Seattle and Phoenix; almost like he was earlier version of Rodman or Artest.

All my memories of DJ were from his Boston days though, and he was never anything but a perfect teammate on the Celtics from the time I started following the game (1985).
