Considering we're 2.5 games out of the top seed, uh, no.
While we may not have a championship, we did beat San Antonio in a 7 game series. Outside of the Shaq/Kobe/Phil Lakers we have been the only team to achieve that goal this decade and we still have most of those guys on the team.
Also the Mavs are such a bad matchup for San Antonio that they wont be allowed to go big. Horry, Thomas, Bonner wont see much time meaning youll be forced to go small ball with us again. The series easily goes an exciting 6-7 games if it happens. Best rivalry in the nba.
I won't lie. I had the same thought as the OP today.
The Spurs have regained the edge in the Mavs-Spurs rivalry, winning 2 out of the last 3.
But according to you they never lost it, since Dallas had to rely on the refs and hitting some bull fluke shots.
It's all about the Spurs missing their shots and the other team making theirs. No ing talent required on the part of the other team for that fluky to happen.
Spurs will be the 2008 champions, I don't think anyone here disagrees.
