I don't think anyone could have expected Andre Miller to be this good. No one thought he could score like this and match up this well against Billups.

i did. Philly is unselfish and he thrives in that, but Ai is selfish and so are the nuggets.

Dre has the size and smarts to match Billups.

No. Iverson is way better than Miller. And miller is still a great player.

well miller looks for his teammates and Iverson doesn't. But that is Iversons fault he has always been the scorer and never much of a passer. All the games I've seen against La, Iverson just keeps dribbling around for 15 seconds and then chucks the ball up!
Umm Iverson has averaged over 7 apg for the last five seasons. He was 11th in the league in assists. He's had 13 assists in the first two games against LA.

Miller's much more conducive to his team's success. However, I once saw Iverson in his prime from the third row and all I know is that he was faster and more athletic than just about anyone I've ever seen. My jaw literally dropped. It's something I'll never forget. People have some idea, but it doesn't translate to TV just how amazing of an athlete Iverson really is.

Miller is a PG. Iverson is a warrior and I respect his toughness and the way he lays it all out there, but he is essentially Pete Maravich reincarnated the way he needs the ball to be effective.

i should clarify by saying i wish the Nugget had them both.

AI needs a much more effective PG than Carter and i dont like AI as PG, unless he is playing the passing game, which seems to happen only on occassion.

I dont think its that cut and dried with AI....

I call his assists Marbury assists...

He dribbles the ball far too long and he will only really make that last 'assist' pass or 'scoring' pass. When you consider the amount of possession Iverson has, and factor in the amount of turnovers and FG%, it isnt all that impressive.

Marbury has average 8 assists per game over his career in nearly 1000 NBA games... yet i would hardly call him a passing point guard if ya know what i mean.

Iverson is the better player, but Miller makes the TEAM better.

I take better team player 100 out of 100 times.

People are forgetting that AI wasn't always the "PG" for the Sixers. AI has and always will be a SG to me. Andre Miller is much more your typical PG who looks to pass first and set up the offense in the half court. That is something that the Sixers needed deseperately and why Andre Miller is looking like such a great fit for this team.

AI didn't have the patience or trust in his young teamates. He overdribbles the ball on offense and looks to set himself up first. The players around him meanwhile stood by and watched him go one on five. Andre Miller meanwhile controls the tempo of the game for the Sixers, sets up their offense, and is a much better defender against quick, strong PG's something that was never AI's strength.

It's difficult to compare the two. I don't know how good the Nuggets would have been with Andre Miller instead of AI, because as I mentioned Miller is much better at controlling the tempo, setting up teammates, etc and the Nuggets offense seems to be more helter-skelter and one on one basketball and quick shots, which is why I initially thought AI was such a great fit there.

Unfortunately, if the Nuggets played any semblance of defense and a controlled offense, they'd be a lot better.

Except Marbury has primarily played point guard his entire career. The vast majority of Iverson's career, he's played shooting guard. Even now, that's why Karl started Anthony Carter most of the season. Iverson is first and foremost a scorer. He can score as well as anyone in the league. The criticism that he isn't much of a passer is not very strong because first, as mentioned, he hasn't really played point guard much. Even though he ends up getting the ball a lot, his primary duty is to score. Think about the times when he was playing point guard with the Sixers and his best offensive weapons as his teammates were Aaron McKie and Dikembe Mutombo. Yet, he still gets his share of assists because defenses are forced to collapse on him. He is a better passer than given credit for but he's always been a much better scorer. I think it's an unfair criticism.
