It's a fight that should have taken place years ago, but both fighters are still very good which makes for a good fight.
I love Calzaghe's style, but Hopkins has been upsetting people for years. It's a fight between two career underdogs, and I can't wait to see it.

i agree that the fight would have been better a few years back but it's interesting to me just the same. definitely plan on catching it. i got calzaghe winning.
I'll watch it. Did anybody see the fights last night? Margarito made Cintron look like a tomato can.
Margarito isn't very fast or quick, but he's big and has an absolute granite jaw. I hope he gets Cotto in July, that will really test Cotto's ability to box with a hard puncher coming right at him all fight long.
if the Hopkins that beat Winky Wright shows up, it could be a really good fight.
But I think whats gonna happen is Bernard's going to get inside as much as possible and hold, hold, hold.
And...Margarito v Cotto will be must see tv.
I think Calzaghe will easily outpoint Hopkins in what will end up being a decision win (like most of Hopkins fights since Delahoya in '04). Hopkins is just too slow and doesn't throw enough punches to win, Calzaghe on the other hand is a machine gun with punches coming from everywhere. He doesn't have great power but his speed and accuracy will end up dominating this fight...
I approve this message!
we hear that all too often don't we?
for pretenders like Hopkins, Roy Jones, and Floyd, yes. You gotta hand it to champs like Delahoya, Sugar Shane, etc.. they took on all comers. Cotto seems to be pretty much the same way with accepting the margarito fight.
Hopkins is a pretender that is laughable he is a legendary all time fighter and who was Roy supposed to fight that had any chance against him that he didn't?? For years nobody wanted to move up to fight him because they did not want to get embarassed. BTW Jones would likely not lose a round against Cotto in his prime.
Roy Jones has been a middleweight for most of his career, Cotto a welterweight...so I don't see why that comparison would be valid.
it isn't..
Oh yeah nobody has ever moved up in weight in boxing right??![]()
Hopkins is a light heavyweight when he was always a middleweight, Sugar Ray moved up to Middleweight, when he was a welterweight, Jones moved all the way up to Heavyweight for one fight, should i go on??
And calling RJJ and Hopkins pretenders is just wrong.
Boxers move up and down in weight all the time, I'm not debating that. How about waiting till Cotto actually does it before throwing out how he would fare against someone in his prime that would outweigh him by about 20 pounds? For all we know, he may stay as a welterweight the rest of his career, no one can speculate him moving that far up in weight...
Hopkins is a . All hold and no fight. Cortez needs to start docking serious points for this ass holding. Hopkins is such a pussy it's comical.
It definitely wasn't the classiest performance I've ever seen (regarding Hopkins).
Hopkins claiming he won the fight after holding like a all fight long, acted like a crying about a fantom low blow, and getting popped and even bent over and dry humped.
Kellerman's a puss. He should have asked Hopkins why he held like a all night long.
Hang 'em up Hopkins. You're nothing anymore if you ever were anything other than a holding pussy.
Sounds bad-ass...
i knew it, i knew it, i knew it....but i watched anyway just to see Hopkins get beat by a white boy.
GO JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still SO pi$$ed that PV$$yface Hopkins refused to give Lightening Calzaghe ANY props whatsoever...give and ye shall recieve. Fans of this fight, read this article if you haven't caught it already...Joe C's "Sore Loser" article:
