When Phil Jackson says he'd rather have Deron Williams over Chris Paul that says a lot IMHO. Deron is the type of player you could plug into any system. CP3 is the system.

Eh, the Hornets went to seven games. Deron never took over games like CP3 did. But both are damn good.

CP got his with a lot of help from the officials. Deron went nuts against the spurs legitimately. Deron also plays in a controlled system under Sloan. If the team was totally handed over to him, who knows what kind of stats he could put up. the area where CP trumps Williams is his ability to take care of the ball.

Kudos fellas... Deron does not get the love he deserves... kid is the LEGIT #1 PG in the league...

BTW, I would give someone $20 for the Pjax quote that he would rather have Deron over CP3

I see...so since Deron's Jazz lost to the Spurs in 6 and Chris Paul's Hornets lost to them in 7, that somehow means Deron is better? Awesome logic!

I think Deron's Jazz lost to the Spurs in 5. Which probably makes a better case for Paul but, either way, both are top point guards in the league.

Both are two of the best PGs in the league, but I honestly fear CP more than Deron. Deron seemed easier to contain.

one thing that is overlooked with tp
is duncan and manu get alot of assist
where as cp3 and williams gets most of their assist on their team

paul is a better passer though

    Negatory.

Deron is a better outside shooter and is a threat from the 3-point line. CP3 gets the gaudy assist numbers but Deron can almost pass just as well as him.

Deron's shooting alone puts him ahead of CP.

it really depends what is being measured here... both of them have an incredible PF... both of them have an intl star besides them... i dunno... CP3 has a really bad at ude... that gives the notch to Deron... Deron>CP3

eventhough CP3 is overrated and Deron is underrated. CP3 > Deron by a slight margin

I really think Deron is not as good at getting his teammates into the game. Also, CP3 has better leadership skills I think. Having watched both, they are both top of the league pg's, probably 1 and 2.

This argument is ridiculous. CP3's assists/turnover ratio is ridiculous compared to Derons. CP3 rarely turns the ball over....and leads the league in steals.

they are 2 different types of point guards. Trying to say one is better than the other is absurd.

Paul is easily the best PG in the league. And easily better than Deron. He was awesome this playoffs. A notch above his regular season superstar play even.

Why would the Spurs be pissed at CP3? The Spurs just kicked his ass.

All I can say is both is a good as it gets with the caveat of "in the system they are in".

Put Paul on the Jazz and Deron on the Hornets, and maybe neither makes the playoffs.

    Who cares?
Neither one could get his team by the Spurs.
Whichever one does first probably gets the nod.
So until then, they are technically on the same level.
So many assists between them, so many points, but 0 Championships. Thats what matters most.
