Shouldn’t have ever even gotten to the point Kawhi wanted out, but I do take some solace in the fact that DDR might have been the 4th or 5th option on the FO’s list.
Spurs should have just hold on to Kawhi untill the season started. Teams would have started to offer some big names for him. We could have probably got someone like Butler.

None of this is news.
I blame the Spurs' FO for making the trade, not for asking for players they were never getting in the first place. Then, they doubled down on stupidity by including Danny Green + an additional 5M and took back a young poor man's David Lee.
The Raptors were so desperate to dump DeRozan's contract, they would made the trade in November.

So the Spurs hang on to him. Does he even show up to play? Answer that question. Leonard's group wanted him out. The group did not want to get Kawhi alone with Pop or RC after the well had been poisoned. Who knows the outcome. There posters probably don't. It's called sabotage.
We heard it plenty of times that the spurs were demanding the world for kawhi. And rightfully so. But nobody wanted to give us anything.
