It went everywhere from 335kbps to 600.2 kbps to 279620.3 kbps, depending on what I had open on my PC.
It's probably in regards to your cache already storing the information for the test.

For those in Austin or on TW-Austin, they've increased the standard Road Runner package from 3Mbps to 5Mbps for no charge.
If that's the case, my first try was 600.0kbps.....downloading at about 74.-something. That's usually the speed it downloads music at, so I'd assume that to be the most accurate.

The thing that sucks is most RR people get 3 times as much speed as I do. It's incredibly gay. That's happened for as long as I have had Road Runner....I've never had a fast connection with it.
