Since I was half-expecting the horse to drop dead on the racetrack, finishing last and surviving is a good result.

For two weeks we've seen people associated with that horse with strained grins on their faces: "Big Brown is fine. He's fine."

    Big Brown: "My hoof hurts."

Handlers: "He's fine. No problem. He'll run with no problems. His hoof is fine."

Big Brown: "My hoof still hurts."

Handlers: "Natural healing. He's fine. He's great. No problem. We'll put a patch on it. He'll run fine."

Big Brown: "Well, my hoof still hurts."

Handlers: "Time to run. He'll be fine. He'll be great. No problem."

Big Brown: "My hoof hurts. Screw you. I'm pulling up."

    Smart horse.

They should take the trainer out to the yard and shoot him. He acted like an arrogant during the entire runup to this race and then his horse comes in last? I hope he feels ty about himself.

On the news they said the winning breeder paid 50 million dollars for the rights to breed Big Brown.

I bet the winning bidder is regretting that decision tonight

Yeah, what a disappointment. I don't know if the trainer was all soaked up with sweat or embarrassment..that's what happens when you use a "guaransheed" line.

That race reeks of a fix. The trainer took him off his steroid shots since the last race in the triple crown, and he expects the horse to keep up in the longest race of the three? I loved how he guaranteed a win for the horse.

Somehow, I think the jockey is going to take the fall for this since there's millions more in stud fees to be made in that horse.

People kept saying they wanted to see history today, and they did.

First time ever a Triple Crown Hopeful has come in last.

That was just sad. And then the jockey afterward, with his "I just had no horse" comment.

It's a good thing they don't shoot NBA players for sucking when it counts, otherwise Dallas wouldn't have a team anymore.

Why? Did his DNA crack, too? That's what the bidder bought, not a racehorse.

Just remember to put all of the Little Browns on Knox Gelatin for Horses.

I stopped getting my hopes up after War Emblem a few years ago. I REALLY thought that horse was going to win the Triple Crown. Talk about a horse that had a second gear. If he doesn't stumble out the gate at the Belmont he wins.

I read a story about Kent Desormeaux' 9 yr old son who was born with Usher's syndrome, and is totally deaf and losing his eyesight. The jockey hoped Big Brown's win would be the last thing his son would witness before becoming totally blind.

Eh, probably shouldn't hang your hope for your child's last visual memory on a ing animal then.
