I know he is entering the last year of his fat contract and NY will have a new coach. So, does NY buy him out or does he stay? If he is bought out, where does he go? Would the Spurs try to sign him if bought out?

Just wondering what Malik lovers think.

Malik should be brought back not in a major role, but similar to what the celtic's old bench players do.
    Plus Philly's Famous was good.
    lol.

how old is he now? if we was alittle younger i would say go for it, he def. brought alot of energy and heart to some of those spurs team, and during 2003, at any point he could go for 20 points in a game, something painfully not present in this years teams, besides acouple games from barry and finley.

    hes probably like 32.

still pretty good age for a VET on the team.

he still has fresh legs if you consider that he never played too much on the Knicks.

Malik is 33. If there was room, for a 1 yr minimum contract that wouldn't be bad.

As much as I would not mind seeing Malik come home, there probably wouldn't be room for him. Unless a trade or free agency thinned out the frontcourt, it's fairly stacked.

And NY will try to trade his expiring contract instead of buying him out.

it's a bit old, but I managed to somehow find Malik's unauthorized blog, dated 12-10-07:

    Hey everyone, it's me, Malik.

Yes, I'm still a Knick for the time being, which in New York means even though I make a few million a year, after taxes, trying to keep my sandwich shop afloat, rent and food means I have about $125 per month to go nuts with.

Well, I'm down about $12,230 to Jerome James in our nightly poker game at the end of the bench during Knick games, so I asked Coach Zeke if I could stay on the inactive list so that I can work off that debt.

He thought I meant that I wanted to stay inactive so that I could "work out" in the gym, so I'll just go on letting him think that.

I lucked out in getting a part time job at a Quizno's in lower Manhattan. The manager (Lloyd Daniels) said it was a hard decision to choose between hiring me or some guy named Dwayne Schintzius, but thanks to my knowledge of putting meat between two slices of bread, I got the job.

Anyway, I would say I don't understand the Knicks owner giving Coach yet another vote of confidence, but at this point it seems Michael Vick will get out of jail before Zeke gets a pink slip.

It may seem to some that we have all but quit on this season, but that it is entirely not true. Everyone still wants in on our game night poker game, so they still gladly suit up, even if Zeke forces them to get out on the court.

In fact, the other night against the 76ers, we got a good laugh at Jamal Crawford as he kept jacking up crazy shots, going 5-16 so that Zeke would sit him, but he just couldn't get himself out of the game. He stood around and had no rebounds, 7 turnovers and only 6 points, yet he still got jammed playing 38 minutes. That was funny....

Anywho, I got to get back to work here at Quizno's. I asked the manager, Mr. Daniels if maybe I could sign some autographs for customers who have requested it as they come in, but he responded with "Huh? who the heck do you think you are? If this was the playground, I would be dunking on your ass.....now get back to work, Mahorn, and scrape off all the gum underneath the tables and out on the sidewalk in front."

Yesterday I had some dude do a drive-by, throwing rotten tomatoes at the window, wrapped in Subway wrappers........the guy was wearing glasses and I think I heard him shout "Eat Fresh......Eat ME..... losers......hahahahahahaha". His license plate said "Jared" but I'm not exactly sure if that was the same one that sells jewelry or not......

God, I really miss San Antonio (where I could work part time at my own sandwich shops if I needed to......). Why does Horry get stay and I don't?

    laters,

    Malik

    Only 33?

He might be too young for Pop.

Mid 30's is usually the pre-requisite for that Horry/Thomas/Willis/etc. role.

We all feel bad for Malik, but put that aside. Do you guys really want a guys who couldn't buy his way into the rotation for the Knicks? In case you didn't notice, the Knicks have been an embarassment to the NBA for about 4 or 5 years now.

Why did we ever let him go anyhow? He could still be a pretty decent role player...

I think he was part of a trade, if I remember correctly. Loved his dunk on cookie monster!
