Spurs forward guard DerMarr Johnson has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to officials at the city's magistrate and detention center.
Johnson, 28, posted $1,000 bond and was released this morning.
"I just had a few cups of wine," Johnson said as he stepped into an SUV with tinted windows outside the detention center.
Johnson, an unrestricted free agent with the Spurs, said he did not think he was intoxicated at the time of his arrest but expected the charge to affect his position with the team.
"Cups of wine" is a classic line.
A few cups of wine may be why this guy has never reached his potential.
Well, one more roster spot just got freed up :/
No more chances in the training camp
I can't believe he is even defending himself - "few cups of wine."
Great, now Pop is more in love with Finley then ever before. Unless DeMarr was drinking A to Z wine, he's probably gone.
I never thought DerMarr was anything special to start with... good thing he gave us an excuse to kick him out
You think?!? Come on man, you make enough money that paying for a cab shouldnt be an issue.
Thats the reason guys like him are free agents.
First the "Im good" to Chip England now this.
Adios.
Too bad hes got a hot wife that sits behind me at the games and is good eye candy and their kids are nice![]()
At least he is smart enough to know he wont be back with the squad next year...

Spurs' DerMarr Johnson leaves the magistrate's office after posting bail on DWI charges on Sunday.

sad thing is that he was just leaving pops house....
We didn't want him to clique up with JR Smith anyway if we went after him. I think DJ was pretty much gone, regardless. On a team that desperately needed some youth and shooting on the perimeter, he couldn't even get off IR in the playoffs.
Pop might have turned a blind eye to the DWI, but "cups of wine"? NO way, he's gone!![]()
Another Bob Huggins byproduct. I'm borderline embarrassed to be a UC grad.
Why was this moved, its Spurs-related?
No sh!t! These guys in the NBA can make lots of money, but it sure doesn't buy them an ounce of class and minimal sophistication.
Merged, not moved.
He ain't a true thug. Wine? A true thug gets arrested for pot.

well , he's likely not coming back now.
unless Pop let's him stay just because it was only wine,Pop likes wine. Lol.
So much for my "Free DeMarr" campaign.
The only way he comes back now is if he can convince Pop he wasn't drinking anything under $5,000 a bottle.
