For some reason I like this guy much more than Casspi. They both have a negative-type personality trait (in some views), but while Casspi is more stuck-up and me-first Claver has a mean/asshole streak on the court.
Part of Claver's optimality depends on whether he can transition to SF. He may be more athletic than Casspi as well as more generally talented, but he has James White disease (timid with how slight he is).
That said, I think he pulls out of the draft. He may be a lottery pick next year.
A long-term project with good potential. The only question is whether the Spurs are comfortable with leaving him overseas for a couple more years.
Like Body said, he's got to decide whether he's a SF or PF and then adjust his body/game accordingly.
It appears that the Spurs have more interest in Casspi, but this guy would be the better long-term bet, IMO.
Mark Bryant -- as a note, I think Arocas is the mother's name by Spanish-language tradition. He's actually known as Victor Claver.
Most talk I've seen of Claver is expectations that he'll pull his name out and was just testing the waters.
However according to RealGM he's already had a workout with Portland (along with a whole slew of others). Maybe he'll keep his name in after all?
why draft this guy when we already have sanikidz?
and i be even pisser if we draft and bring this guy over even b4 sanikidz
