Now that we know who is going to be in the draft, NBA mock drafts actually mean something. Use this thread to link to mock drafts you find on the internet. Also highlight which player the mock draft has the Spurs selecting.

    Chad Ford - ESPN

    26. Mario Chalmers

The Spurs have been looking for a backup point guard for Tony Parker, and you won't find a guy with more grit and experience than Chalmers. He should be able to step right in and play minutes for the Spurs.

This has been a good database. Highlights for Wizards but links for all drafts.

If they predict enough names, that will narrow the search down to who they will REALLY draft.

    Interesting note...

It's the first mock draft I've seen that has Batum dropping to the second round!

It has the Spurs passing on Chalmers, Walker, and Batum to draft a perimeter-oriented PF with questionable athleticism.

    Hope that doesn't happen.

The lack of consensus agreement within the mock drafts of all these 'experts' simply shows that no one knows about what is going to happen because the draft after the consensus lottery picks is all about players who aren't locks to move into a regular rotation spot.

After 15, the draft is full of players who all have strengths and weaknesses that make them hard to rank.

Team needs also play a part, but since the Spurs could use a new infusion of talent at virtually every position to back up what we have, the pundits are all over the place with their picks for us.

Damn, DraftExpress and NBADraft.net have the Spurs drafting Ryan Anderson now. Pretty decent talent but he wouldn't fit what the Spurs need. A jump shooting power forward with limited athleticism? If they wanted that skillset, all they'd have to do is play Bonner more or re-sign Horry.

Anderson at 45 is really good value. At 26? It'd be a horrible pick ... unless they are shipping away Bonner and not re-signing Horry. Even then, the Spurs would basically be right back where they started.

i picked this up from DX article on IBAKA:

he had to go through a private workout with the Seattle SuperSonics during the lunch break (“private” gets all its significance here, as not even his agents were allowed to attend it—although the Spurs were).

Could it be that Pop and Presti are thinking about a move up trade by the Spurs to take him as the Sonics pick at 24 in the first round or 2 in the second round? Otherwise why would the Spurs be allowed in the Sonics workout?

I like the second scenario in the second round better (there is no limit to my greed), but the guy has had some pretty good camps and may be a sleeper pick earlier than the second round for someone...

I'd say worse, actually, since they would be drafting a player with basically the same skill set as somebody who is already on the roster and already knows the Spurs system. Plus, it would be a wasted opportunity to fill a true need (such as backup PG or athletic SF).

Spurs are likely considering ALL their options, because as someone alluded to....the Spurs need youth and athleticism just about everywhere on the court. Ibaka certainly fits that mold, but so do many of these other prospects.

I wouldn't read too much into it, other than the Sonics doing the Spurs a favor by allowing them into the workout.

I like Ibaka for "down the road", but I don't want to see them take a flyer on him that early, when a swingman should be the priority. Now if they can somehow work out a deal with the Sonics to acquire their 24th pick, along with their own pick, or if Seattle drafts Ibaka and the two teams work out a trade, then I'm OK with that.

Seattle's owner is still in a lawsuit with the city about trying to move the franchise. I read the other day in an Oklahoma paper that the lawsuit over the issue shows the Seattle movers and shakers who were/are trying to keep the team have a strategy to 'bleed' the Oklahoma owner as part of a 'poisoned well' tactic. Consequently, he may be amenable to some sort of deal for cash or whatever that would keep him out of the first round guaranteed money.

Maybe we package something like a trade exception to get him in a trade after the draft? And keep our 26? We need some bold moves this year.
