Added by Kori: Sure... there's an official Scola thread in the NBA forum. But since many people have now refueled their hatred for the Scola trade (thanks to Scola's outstanding performance), I figured I'd merge the latest threads here.
So go ahead and use this thread.
I guess if Pop is so mad that he could "spit" about Scola being a Rocket, I'm guessing he wasn't on board with that trade.

When given minutes the guy can play.
Though the past is past, it still bothers me to know we traded him to a divisional rival for nothing. Couldn't they have waited 'til after the Vegas tournament to trade him (after his stock value would have likely risen).

He wasn't going to find many minutes here.
Adeleman's system also allows Scola more flexibility on the Offensive end.
With T-Mac out of the game he gets the ball a uva lot more. Nice game tonight.
What about the other 7 games he's sucked?
Scola is extremely polished, and the league doesn't know his skill set...he should have been doing this from out of the gate...the fact that he wasn't should be alarming...
The league will catch up to him...the fact that they started out caught up to him is what was notable to me.
In short...
Scola = Giricek II
And in the immortal words of RC Buford...where was the rebounding?
He looks like a little more athletic version of Oberto. His shot and mostly all his game.
Well he does know how to get a couple of charging fouls on Manu with his flopping just like Manu. Even Manu was starting to get pissed at him.
Pretty obvious he was more confident and maybe not as nervous tonight.
Argentina must have a flopping school for the gifted. Oberto, Manu, Scola must have all been born in flop city.
"Manu getting a taste of his own Medicine"![]()
Sean Elliot would probably say that.
James White!
Stephen Jackson!
Speedy Claxton!
I dunno. Like many, I was skeptical of Scola, and while I think it's true that the league will get a 'read' on him in the near future, he looked pretty darn good against one of the NBA's elite defenses. He may have just enough game to be real solid for the Rockets off the bench.
i am glad to see Scola playing like this.
it is just a matter of time, and he will be a starter.
If he keep playing like this, he might be voted in the ASG!
sure he might
Elliott w/ 2 t's my brutha
I could be wrong, but from what I saw, he scored b/c no one was guarding while he was taking jump shots. He's like Elson from the top of the key or elbow.... Just a "role" player, nothing more.
I could be wrong, but I believe his buyout deadline with Tau came before the tourny.
If the Spurs waited to move him until post tourny, no one could bring him over for at least another season and there was a risk of him signing an extension in the meantime.
if bonner finds minutes here scola would have easily
It's tough to move on, when you see Luis playing well.
I'm still extremely disappointed and perturbed that the Spurs couldn't sign Luis. Very perturbed.
...and yet we work out our frustrations and we move on.

didn't know that Luis has a 3 point shot.
I thought the Scola herbs had died out, now we have to hear this again.
so what's the excuse now?
first it was "let's see what he does in against NBA players", then it was "FIBA mean nothing, let's see what he does in the NBA", then it was "pre season means nothing"
now what is it? "20pts on the Spurs means nothing"?????
and the Spurs have a tough time putting away the Rockets at home without Tmac playing is a very bad sign
This couldn't have gone in one of the 7,283 other Scola threads you've started?
No excuses, but I do think adjustments will be made and maybe (hopefully) Scola won't always be getting so many open looks.
