    Anti-empire, anti- the money interest.

Small government activism (free labor/free education/"free"land/public infrastructure) a la Abe Lincoln might be the American style that most appeals to me, but it no longer exists. I'm politically homeless.

I'll back Bernie because he wants to do tangibly good stuff for ordinary citizens.
    So you're ideals are socialist?

Lou Dobbs called Mike Lee a Benedict Arnold for disagreeing with the party line in public. Contradicting and debating Trump's policies are the moral equivalent of treason for today's GOP.
Lou Dobbs is a shill. The shills are readily discernible.

    Bad word, socialism.
Almost as bad as capitalism to some.
Even though we are both and purely neither.

Was there anyone in this forum calling him a terrorist before last week?

Not rhetorical. I can't recall a single time he came up in the last ten years before a few days ago.
Soleimani? only a ing re idiot would truly believe he was a terrorist

he was a general in the battlefield you kill people in the battlefield. he is no lore terrorist than we were when we armed Mujahadin in Afghanistan with stinger missiles that killed thousands of Russians

we were in a cold war then and we are in a cold war now vs Iran.

the US media is a pathetic parrot of the CIa and most americans regurgitate their lies like a bunch of bonehead stupidied moronic maggots

you dont hear russians ing and moaning about Charlie Wilson and calling him a terrorist. they accept it was war. stop being a crying america

I see nothing there that confirms Soleimani killed Americans but *something* to confirm he fought in cooperation with them. We also know he gave the US helpful information about the Taliban in 2001.

Shia miltias in Iraq did kill Americans, and it seems a reasonable inference that Soleimani gave them information and materiel to do so -- but surmises are not evidence.

Just curious, do you think killing uniformed military who invade and occupy another country is terrorism?

If the mere association with Hezbollah cements Soleimani's status as a terrorist, than surely ours with salafists in Syria does the same to us, no?
    surmises

Lindsay Graham said the same thing. Soon that will be your side’s narrative — really it has been since 9/11. If you’re against our policy, you’re pro-terrorism/the enemy.

I thought so, but it’s interesting how many people repeat whatever the talking heads say without more information.

Btw, TSA, do you think killing uniformed military in a war zone is terrorism?

Have fun with that. Iran is not Iraq. It is five times larger, has had close to 40 years to prepare for conflict with the US, and has a military that will not cut and run at the first sign of trouble. Still no match for the US, but if it really goes down, it will be bad.

The Big Picture is the Americans in M/E are invaders/destroyers/killers, UN ING WELCOME, working for BigOil

Military opposition to the Americans is totally understandable, justifiable, is NOT "terrorism", but "freedom fighting" to repulse the invader.

    Turn it around.

How all you small- /BigGun self-complimenting "patriots", not terrorists, would "freedom fight" the Mexican army invading to grab Eagle Ford and Permian.

Salamander fighting the Americans was perfectly legit legal warfare against the American aggressor, NOT terrorism.

... killing uniformed military in a war zone is terrorism?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-intensity_conflict

    Low intensity conflict.

Low-intensity conflict is defined by the US Army as:

... a political-military confrontation between contending states or groups below conventional war and above the routine, peaceful compe ion among states. It frequently involves protracted struggles of competing principles and ideologies. Low-intensity conflict ranges from subversion to the use of the armed forces. It is waged by a combination of means, employing political, economic, informational, and military instruments. Low-intensity conflicts are often localized, generally in the Third World, but contain regional and global security implications.[3]

You’ll pardon me for being a bit of a 20th century guy. Calling all US adversaries terrorists sounds like political cant to me.

The notion that there can be no honorable opposition to US military power sorts ill with democracy and the LOAC and in fact seems like a bid to free US armed services from the LOAC, to act like barbarians.

The detention of Iranian-American US citizens at the border is certainly a concerning sub plot in all this.

    was not local initiative.

the instruction to detain, harass re-entering Iranian-American citizens or legit visa holders came from xenophobic/rasicst/nativist Stephen Miller or other top-level assholes.

and of course the automatic Newspeak:

    Agree fully.

The current administration is on an arc to shield US troops from international norms, and the current draft-dodging piece of Golfer in Chief's repeated threats to commit war crimes should be worrying anyone.

CBP Schutzstaffel is as corrupt as any Repug run agency.

But you think their bull lies are God's own words.

Just a coincidence that CBP is harassing Iranian-Americans the very same week that Trash is doing his "best" to start a war with Iran.

Why Trump revealing that the United States is developing hypersonic missiles is a very big deal

Trump not only claimed that America’s missiles are ”big, powerful, accurate, lethal, and fast,”

    which is … disturbing on several levels;

he also made a statement that was not so much a missile but a bombs .

Under construction are many hypersonic missiles.”

What Trump suggested indicates that multiple hypersonic weapons are in active development. Trash speaking with precision?

it also may signal the start of a new arms race with Russia to build weapons that destroy any possibility of defense.

In a sense, Donald Trump just drove a nail into the coffin of Ronald Reagan’s Star Wars program.

He also killed the idea that there was any possibility of responding to news of a launch with anything but a devastating counterstrike.

hypersonic missiles threaten to create a whole new order of threat, one that negates both defensive systems and strategic planning.

reduces the time between a possible launch and the impact of a warhead from minutes down to seconds.

the idea of a weapons system that leads to even less opportunity to reconsider before potentially world-shattering action is taken should be terrifying.

a weapons system that demands such a fast response that

    there’s no time for mistakes.

    No time to evaluate consequences.

No time even to wince before the warhead arrives.

Moving to an age of hypersonic missiles is almost like a switch from analog to binary warfare—

an age in which launch and impact are impossibly close together.

These are systems that negate defense,

nullify the idea of shelters, and

make Mutually Assured Destruction much more assured.
