ESPN.com still has the Spurs at 10.
SpursTalk hero CJ McCollum is quietly one of the worst starters in the NBA. Just killed them defensively vs. the Pelicans.
Until NO shows any type of consistency, looks like the Griz has the 8 seed on lockdown. Spurs should be back next year if Pop steps down.
First tiebreaker is always head to head. The Spurs have only played the Pels once, and they won that one. That should put them at 10.
I had to start Ctrl/Paste from The Athletic standings page because ESPN page has been doing this lately. It automatically highlights all the teams and doesn't paste correctly anymore.
You're the last person I would ever gripe about. You keep this place well-informed, and you always have some fresh pictures and/or videos. I always hate it when people doing all the work get hammered for every inconsequential thing. Absolutely no disrespect intended, I promise.
A lot of sites seem to show teams with identical records in arbitrary order until it comes to playoff time. I guess because the tiebreakers can be too convoluted to automate? It doesn't change a thing about the fact that the Spurs are really, really unlikely to get to that 8 seed now.
Grizz almost a 30 win team. It's tight with Blazers, Spurs, Kings, Suns, Pelicans. Spurs picked a bad season to suck with the 8th spot being so close. Spurs 4 1/2 games out.
Rest of this season is going to be a grind for that 8th seed, if we get 10 games out it's over, no playoffs.
It's already 99.9% sure that the Spurs will miss the PO.
Exactly...lol 10 games dude 4 games is rarely overcome in nba
Thanks.....that's what I thought.
I'm sure everyone wants to see this.

5 games back from the 8th seed. Are some gonna pretend we still have a chance?
Spurs need a 6-7 game win streak coming out the break
B...b...but Puka Sammich sometimes dunks on G-Leaguers and is 2 years away from being 2 years away from being pretty damn good. Don't you know that the Spurs never made a bad draft pick?!
spurs need to get in that lottery
The way grizzlies are going, 6-7 not gonna be enough, it is closer to 10-12 game win streak. It is highly unlikely the Spurs can do that.
I thought the same.
I thougth the Grizzlies being youngins would cool off at some point, but frankly they are a deep team and are actually improving once they get Winslow, plus Dieng is a good addition to them.
Spurs will need a longish winning streak as you say and that is just unlikely. It's not over yet, but it's very uphill.
The Grizzlies have the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA.
The Pelicans have the easiest schedule remiaining, the Trail Blazers have the 6th easiest schedule, and the Spurs have the 10th easiest schedule.
That 23 consecutive winning seasons pro sports record would have been nice but being tied at 22 consecutive winning seasons for pro sports isn't so bad either. No team in the NBA will match that for quite awhile if ever, it's something to be proud of. Yes making the playoffs for the Spurs will be an uphill battle the rest of the season but it's still possible.
