This thing is nasty for sure and I’ve taken strongly to recommended precaution, except not golfing that, been playing more than ever. Down to a 1.3 now from a 2.6 since the shelter in place. Goal was to get back to scratch : lol

I don’t have the link to initial IHME model and am not going to look for it, sorry. The model was terrible, whatever data they used was terrible. The deaths and hospitalizations they predicted were so far off it’s embarrassing, and social distancing was factored in the whole time. Remember all the ventilators we panicked about a month ago? The overwhelmed hospitals we panicked about? None of it ever happened.
This is the oldest snapshot on wayback machine, taken on March 30th: https://web.archive.org/web/20200330...rg/projections

81K deaths. When Winehole first posted it, I remember agreeing with their death projections since they made more sense than the doomsday 2.2 million dead of the Imperial model. I also remember Carl Bergstrom criticizing the model as optimistic. The model was indeed way off about hospital resource use, but I now have to agree with Bergstrom that the median death projections is optimistic. We'll be at 100K by June 1st.

The overwhelmed hospitals did happen in New York and New Jersey. And now the rest of the eastern seaboard is starting to see Italy like death tolls (per capita). The way we got into this mess in the first place is thinking that the Italy situation could never happen here and before that, the China situation could never happen here. So someone in Texas justifying opening up because, "Well, it's only happening in New York. We're not New York" makes that mistake again. Is it probable it doesn't happen in Texas considering the differences in weather, pop density, and so on? Sure. But in matters of life and death, you want as much certainty as possible. No state has that certainty right now.

It'd be ironic if I was trying that hard.

I would never feel a need to impress Chumpettes with anything from life, let alone my sex life. They're not worth it whatsoever.

^The model back then predicted New York would end at 10K deaths. Yeah. Optimistic.

FL isn't NY and NYC shut down 25% of its capacity.

You can't have a functional city if essential workers can't get to work.
OH now the economy trumps lives... because it's NY.

Our system isn't shutdown. You can buy any basic necessity you want. You're going to have to come to terms that once the open up order is declared, people aren't going to pack bars, restaurants, clubs, theaters, etc like before, so it's likely those businesses will go under anyway. Combine this with the fact that the majority of working Americans are over 40, have a litany of co-morbidities, and you'll just cause unnecessary death without the economic recovery to justify it. Not worth it so some Freedumb MAGAt can go get a haircut.

    Hence conversational, dip .

For what it's worth I haven't felt that need to have that convo repeatedly. Nothing gonna stop a chumpette from tightly holding narrative.

Trump must be re ed for asking if UV light can be used therapeutically amirite?

    Here's what Trump asked:

So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful, light — and I think you said that hasn’t been checked but you’re going to test it — and then I said suppose you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that, too. Sounds interesting.

Then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. Is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside? Or almost a cleaning, ‘cause you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it’d be interesting to check that. So you’re going to have to use medical doctors but it sounds interesting to me, so we’ll see but the whole concept of the light. The way it kills it in one minute, that’s pretty powerful.

Which disinfectant or light do you want injected to clean your lungs?

Who said anything about an indefinite shutdown? We'll have more clarity by mid-Summer on seroprevalence, about how antibodies contribute to immunity (meaning those who have gotten it and recovered will be confident to resume their jobs and be out and about), and we'll hopefully find some therapeutic treatments. It's only been a month.
