The country voted for Hillary. The electoral college voted for the fascist piece of . The country doesn't deserve what they're getting right now.
A ton of people were apathetic and didn't vote at all which put Trump in charge. I count them too.

Unfortunately Sanders was the only candidate who could have approximated an FDR to save us.
    FDR had support in Congress,

Bernie (or any progressive) has very little support from the Dems.

Don't forget many republicans votes for New Deal legislation. Good luck getting that to happen today.

over half small service business will go kaput

over 60% service employees will be unemployed

I actually think it will come end of year but just barely. Keep in mind work force participation will go way down and that will make the number look slightly better.

Not going to say I disagree, but I'd like to see how you liken Bernie to FDR.

The New Deal isn't this thing that solved our issues like some think and people really discount how much WW2 changed things.

Just would like to hear how you think Bernie could "fix" this.

lol, like Republicans didn't vote for that bonus, and the POTUS didn't sign it.

Then again, the unemployment bonus ends July 31st... thankfully they came up with that considering the economy is going to be in the ter for the foreseeable future thanks to this administration. Hopefully it gets extended and puts some pressure on the private sector to raise slave wages.

Yeah, and they ignored Republicans when they mentioned that this creates an incentive to not work. The big brains didn't foresee any problems though.

Seems like.a good strategy to destroy small businesses. Let's let the big brain government try to manipulate the market they've proven themselves to be great decision makers.

Any disincentive is temporary, considering the national emergency. I don't know why you seem upset that workers have some degree of temporary leverage so they can make the best decision for themselves and their families, tbh

Again, not surprising to see Republicans working for their corporate overlords and ting on the little guy.

Had Trump's big brain taken the pandemic seriously as was spelled out for him multiple times, none of this would be necessary.

Seems like a good strategy to destroy America.

Why would anyone work now when they can get paid more just to sit home and take advantage of this. A person would have to be pretty stupid to go back to work making less when they can milk it for two months making more just sitting home. lol

Can you even get the unemployment bonus if you're no longer collecting unemployment?

I don't know if this differs state to state but in Texas you can be rejected for unemployment if you're offered your job back and you decline. We were specifically told on a conference call the other day that we should alert the State Unemployment office if we offer a furloughed employee their job back and they decline.

The incentive is $600 a week, so it mostly applies to lower-income individuals anyways. Again, it gives them leverage: If they do not want to work due to fears of contagion, they can't be coerced into it. And if they do want to risk it, they can leverage it for better pay or better benefits.

As I said earlier, the fact this is news at all considering the modest bonus, has much more to do with how depressed wages are at this point.

Because when the gravy train rolls out, they might not have a job to come back to and when they try to file again and they're asked if they refused employment, they might be up the creek without a paddle?

2 months of milking it vs not coming back to a job and entering a massive pool of jobseekers when there might not be anymore welfare to give back isn't exactly "genius".

Yeah, and this isn't high value employees anyways... those guys are already making more than unemployment + bonus.

If we are lucky, all of Europe's infrastructure will blow up and China will go back to Pre-WW II production. Then nothing will get in our way from recovering.

A lot of companies will try to operate with fewer employees, successfully, so Ms of jobs will not be coming back anytime soon

The last thing a company want is employees, that's why 1000s of companies have switched to outsourcing and/or shipping jobs overseas.

Employees are costs to be eliminated, and if not eliminated, their compensation reduced and held down.

Real household income has been essentially flat since 1981 when St Ronnie The Diseased and trickle down/laffer curve inequality champions took over.

By implementing a safety net like FDR did. Wouldn't have done a corporate bailout like Trump did without at least getting a temporary UBI in for the people.

Also had FDR deserves credit even if you say it was only WWII that lifted the nation up. Had he lost that 1940 election the Brits would have been speaking German. The GOP all over FDR for supplying aid to Great Brittain and the 1940 campaign was the GOP saying FDR will get your kids killed fighting in a European war we had no business being in. Cracks me up seeing conservatives always elevate Churchill when they wanted us to be Chamberlain back then.

Some people like to work and be productive. I have an office full of staff that want to work despite the fact that they are getting paid full salary not too. How much Netflix can you actually watch?
