Starters
You know what to do. Put together a starting lineup and the backups:
Carmelo Anthony
Gilbert Arenas
Shane Battier
Chauncey Billups
Chris Bosh
Bruce Bowen
Elton Brand
Kobe Bryant
Dwight Howard
Josh Howard
Lebron James
Antawn Jamison
Joe Johnson
Rashard Lewis
Shawn Marion
Brad Miller
Chris Paul
Paul Pierce
Michael Redd
Luke Ridnour
Amare Stoudemire
Dwayne Wade
Adam Morrison

Your favorite team is the Pistons and you don't have Chauncey Billups on here?
I like his team very much. Top to bottom. Only change is I'd get rid of Pierce and add Wade.
No way Lebron is gonna be a backup for Josh Howard.
If Billups is still on the Pistons in 2008 for some unfortunate reason, I wouldn't want him wasting what's left of his 32-year-old legs in the ing Olympics.
And, I simply don't think he's as good as either Paul or Arenas are, - or, more importantly, as they're going to be - so as I'm supposed to be assembling your country's team to win, I left him off.
Now that I think about it, that roster is a bit 3-heavy, though.
As for James - he's no better a rebounder or shooter than Howard is, and certainly not a better defender; and I remain unconvinced about his effectiveness without the ball. While I'm sure that for ego purposes he'll be a starter, I'm not convinced that that unit would be better with him rather than Howard.

Do they have someone that can hit a jumper, that's all international ball is anyway.
Josh Howard declined I think because of previous commitments.
Figures he probably is afraid to offend Dirk
If Howard is out, then Jamison. I love Marion, but like Mavsfanhater said, it's all about the jumpers and Jamison is good from all over. He can also play both forward spots.
My starters are in bold. Not sure how many they will carry on the roster. I think that lineup has good balance since only 2 of my starters need the ball to be effective. Then you got shooters like Redd off the bench and Wade can give Kobe a break. Marion can replace Battier. DHoward can come in for Amare. This team can easily go 15 deep but they shouldnt do that. They should settle on 12 or 13 guys.

When it's all said and done how many of these guys are going to want to go thrrough all the preparation, time commitment and then ride the bench. There's going to need to be some role/specialty players that are okay with being 9, 10, 11, 12 and maybe never seeing the floor.

Guys with range are huge in international ball. You want a starting 5 that can really space the floor.
Rebounding, passing, and defense are next.
Surprised David West didn't get an invite or did he?
Exactly, which is why I'm surprised a lot of people have left Brad Miller off the list. That no defense playing may actually start at center.
Brand has done good things to improve his range and he's a better all-around player, but you could certainly make a good case for Miller starting.
what do you really think about the guy?
Dwayne Wade
Bruce Bowen
Kobe Bryant
Lebron James
Amare Stoudemire at least 80% healthy
Brand is one of my favorite players in the league right now. The guy brings in every single game. I live down in Long Beach so I'm at Clippers games all the time. He flies under everyone's radar, but this year, actually got some well deserved recognition.
He is as soft as Charmin.what do you really think about the guy?
