the mayor, and the governor, and everyone on the scene—makes clear, the presence of federal forces in Portland has greatly escalated the violence and tension in the city.

Last Saturday, the crowd was 100 or so. It was very chill—nothing going on beyond the now-normal occupation of the Justice Center.

So what is going to stop the violent right wing militias from doing the same thing? They are going to get the bright idea awful quick that if the feds are running around in unmarked vans in groups of paramilitary clothes snatching people off the streets.. they can too.
