Hopefully this means El Niño Forbes is gone for good.
should have tried to trade down to 14 with boston. still might have gotten vassell.
Did we get the “steal of the draft again”?
Solid choice, think let down is more that a trade didn't happen (as of yet).
In theory, with White, Murray, Johnson and Vessell (if he plays this year), the defense should pick up on the perimeter. It's just the ratio that the other guys who don't play defense will be the real concern. As long as Forbes is gone and the Spurs don't sign a Forbes-like player, if Patty and DDR are the real weak links on defense, then I'll take it. It's when players like Forbes and Beli take a huge chunk of minutes over others that really grates me.
We got our 3; we are sitting pretty actually. We needed a solid defender!
How tall is this guy really? I've heard 6'4 to now 6'7??
Pop will probably use Vassell as power forward
He's not very tall. He doesn't have Kawhi's length or anything like that. I see him as someone with the same measurements as DeMar. A big guard.
He’s 6’5” w/o shoes. He’s a SG. We got a Danny green SG. He’s not a SF
I read somewhere that he has a 6’9” wingspan. Not bad for his size.
For reference, Lonnie, Keldon, and DJ all have a longer wingspan than him.
I was just about to say his wingspan looks huge. Anybody got his combine measurements?
Vassell/Johnson might just be the new wing stop. The good thing about Vassell is if he was to replace Bryn from day 1, the team would be better. You can immediately play him and he still has some room to grow offensively. Not a bad pick and a well seasoned player who's only 20 years old.
Hopefully in Free Agency or the trade market, we can net ourselfs a 25min PF. Then I think the internal approvements of Walker/Murray/White/Johnson, add Vessel. We got a good youth movement. We however need a vet swing man.
There you go. Prefers shooting guard. Played forward in college where everybody is smaller. His measurements and his experience guarding players point to him guarding shooting guards.
"I think shooting guard is my preferred position, but I played SF all through college"
-Devin Vassell
6-5 without shoes is like 6-6 or 6-7 with shoes. He looks long af. Theres no reason why he cant play SF as well.
