I'm expecting Cam Reynolds to be waived soon, and might not even come back to our Austin Spurs. He's showing nothing special out there.

I think Walker and DeRozan make for a strong duo, and with Aldridge OR Gay, I think it's the foundation for a good unit. I really don't like Murray getting touches, and I think with all three of Aldridge, Gay and DeRozan, there are too many guys who want the ball and too few scorers off the bench. I legit think Jones, Walker, DeRozan, Lyles, Aldridge might be the best SL the team can put out on opening day. Let Mills, Murray, Vassell, Gay, Poeltl but the high-energy deflections unit. Lonnie's doing enough to show he can still be salvaged, but Pop has to commit to that instead of jerking him around while considering DJM to be an entrenched vet.

I also worry that this is going to be another year of weird coaching decisions. Pop kept Walker on the bench for way too long when he was on a hot streak, and he played a short rotation for much of the second quarter and avoided giving Jones minutes checking guys like Wall and Gordon, which could've been valuable experience for Tre. With White's injury, I think Jones will get playing time in real games, so there's no point in treating him like an X-10 contract.

I have no clue what the starting rotation is going to be but I hope to goodness it doesn’t have Lyles in it.

If the first game was a 4/10 for Murray, today was a 6.5/10 one. It wasn't a let down.

I don't know that he's "better" than Murray, but the team needs DJM on the bench. I think Jones can bring the ball up on the floor, play and little defense and not get in DeRozan's way too much. That'd be a plus over what Murray has been doing.

If we're judging from one preseason game (as people love to do here), KBD is closer to taking those minutes than Samanic.

I don't know. Criticism like this is better after the first game, not today's. Just odd that Murray is the target tonight vs the other issues that were more glaring: Aldridge being a step slow, Lyles losing all his talent Space Jam style, the discombobulated offense in the 2nd and 3rd. Somehow DJ, who did not play terrible, is the focus.

I need to see more defense from Lonnie. Training with Jrue should have helped in that area. Also, where's all the electrifying passes and vision he had displayed during the Bubble? I'm sad that's nowhere to be seen right now.

Dejonte Murray will never accept a role off the bench and it’s gonna cost the spurs
    imagine a White/Lonnie(Vassell?)/Keldon/Derozan/Aldridge SL

Makes too much sense (Vassell for me). Expect it ten games remaining in the season when the team is lottery bound.

The fact we fans are lamenting that Luka isn’t ready to play is actually a sign of how much they need talent at that position.

Aldridge is awkward trying to figure out how to balance spacing the floor and still getting touches. I don't think he'll be settled in for a while.

Lyles has played poorly. But the team didn't draft or trade for a PF, so he's going to start. I wanted the team to draft a guy, but what can you do?

I think Murray was a huge part of the second- and third-quarter offense. He had five TOs in 17:09 stretch, and the Spurs went from up five to down four. I don't think he's nearly as blameless as you seem to think.

    My (over)reactions from tonight’s game:

    - Shot distribution is a huge problem with this team.
You can see that selfishness come into play when LA, Mills, DJ etc. haven’t had their numbers called in a few possessions, the shot’s going up irrespective of time, score, defence...

    - DJ has trademarked the bullet, dump off pass.

    - Lyles needs to concentrate on the little things first. I thought his 3rd quarter was a huge improvement in that area, but no getting around it -
he has been terrible the first 2 games. He is clearly pressing with his shot but am encouraged that he is still shooting it.

    - Vassell. Wow. The guy just gets it. Doesn’t need the ball to be effective, yet when he has it; makes smart decisions, takes the open shot. Hope he continues to play come regular season.

    Would love to see a

    White
    Vassell
    DDR
    KJ
Poeltl lineup in the not too distant future.

DeRozan playing the four full time will not work. It's amazing to me that I have argue this after spending years arguing that DMDR could and should play PF situationally against a forum that believed he was an SG.

Dude is not established enough to demand a position, even with his contract.

If Pop puts him on the bench, he'll come off the bench. Otherwise, GTFO
