I've only been burned by a maternal uncle though, so that's all I was worried about. Now you have me scared of uncles in general. lol

So many games come down to execution, shot making in the last 4 minutes.

Spurs are not yet crunch time performers.

Yooo, we need to figure this out. What is with Jak and the "no dunking" thing? That has cost us a lot of points this year already. I don't like it.

At this point I am for real down for mass bullying this guy on social media until he starts going up strong.

Steph isn't even Steph when there isn't another Steph next to him. No one intelligent likes to look at small ball, let alone actually run with it as a strategy. Length is damn near everything when it comes to preventing the other team from scoring.
So you agree with me that size matter in basketball. There's still room for a talented big.

BTW, all you hear nowadays is that the NBA is about position-less ball. Big's don't matter.

Not as optimistic as I was after Tuesday. The Spurs have talent, though, and they should have a chance to beat LAC.

Walker was passive again. He had some passes where you'd think you were watching 2K because he'd be in the middle of a drive and all of the sudden contort and throw the ball to a random teammate. He needs to accept that he's going to get blocked or stripped from time to time and to just go for it. There's a difference between passing when he gets an open man for a better shot and passing to avoid shooting. For the most part, Lonnie did the latter. I don't know that speed is going to be his defensive asset. He overran a number of plays to leave guys open. The way he was benched after that Schroeder three, it seems like he missed a big rotation. Right now, he's neither solid or spectacular. Still, his lack of spot-up opportunities over the past two games was alarming. He passed up a wide-TF-open three and missed another, but he basically didn't get any chances against the Lakers. Getting him open three looks needs to be the priority for an SL that doesn't really have bona-fide shooters.

Murray was a little better in how controlled he played, but there were still possessions where he'd randomly call his own number and burp up a shot. He needs to be honest with himself about when him being aggressive is the best thing for the team. Right now, it's not as often as he thinks it is.

Johnson competed and had better results in terms of scoring. He and the rest of the team figured out an effective way to stop James from scoring efficiently, but they lack the ability to stop him from passing well. I think moving Johnson to Davis was the right call even though that's an impossible size disparity. He's doing nothing to make Pop not play him a PF for the regular season. But I still worry about his ability to do it physically for a season. I think he'll have inconsistent energy from the strain, but that's not fair to judge after Williamson and James/Davis for three straight games.

White was good defensively. A lot of other fans think he's bad money on his new deal. But even in limited minutes and with meh offense, it's clear that the only way that's true is if his injuries consume him. He's an awesome defender mentally, and he used him body really well to guard James. His hands and instincts also let him help effectively. The defensive ceiling of the team is so much higher when he plays. Pop's going to have to decide how to make his rotation, though. I like the idea of a full bench unit eventually with Vassell getting a role. That means one of the ball-handlers has to come off the bench. I don't think it should be White, but that's probably the one Pop would most rather put there. It's a weird idea that the team may be too young to justify a full 10-man rotation. But I do think it's worth doing.

Poeltl was fine. He was benched because no one can stop Davis. The Spurs need to use him more on offense as a passer. If Poe had even Eubanks' level of shooting, he'd be a very good high-post player. As it is, he's probably best as a short-roller. He needs to score better, but it's clear the Lakers adjusted to the open looks he was getting. That's part of the reason why he can't just be a finisher on offense.

Eubanks wasn't really that bad either. He's a third center who should really see big minutes anyway, so him having to play half the game multiple games in a row isn't fun. But he competed on both ends and didn't look too much worse than Harrell. Not a good performance, but he didn't look disappointing.

    The team needs Aldridge.

You don't need a gun either until one is pointed at you. People are dumb.

If we moved Tim's and Shaq's brains into KAT's and Ayton's bodies, it'd be the 2000s all over again.

Let's face it, Pop has always hated dunking.
I mean, it is dumb, considering you can't touch the rim while the ball is in it, but you don't play by a rule that no one else plays by. He and Jakob are pretty much the only people who care about that.

Rudy thinks he is THAT DUDE and yet the commentators mentioned multiple times how his teams made the playoffs maybe three times in his 10+ years in the league. He never wants to find the open guy.
He’s the reason why I don’t want White to come off the bench. Dude just chucks and chucks and freezes out teammates

Interesting how Eubanks got so many minutes.
If we're all about giving youth a shot then you give it to those with a modi of NBA talent. Lyles, as bad as he is, should get more minutes than Eubanks because he can at least make shots and has done so more than a guy who went undrafted for a good reason. I mean, Samanic should get more minutes than Eubanks. We shouldn't be wasting our time with that guy.

What contender will give up anything for him?

I could see sacto offering Barnes and a pick or Woodard but, I wouldn't consider them contenders.
Richaun Holmes & Bjelica would do, though...

Yeah I have the opinion that White regress last year because Gay goes into iso mode and freeze out White.

    My observations:

    - Start of the 4th quarter. For the first 3 minutes of the final stanza, I thought the Spurs were putrid offensively. Many will point to late game execution but thought the seeds were sown then for the L.

    - Rudy “Singularity” Gay. Defensively, I thought he has been solid the last 2 games but that Offense...Trust your teammates!!

    - D White impacts the game positively whether he shoots the ball well or not. Missed that guy. Give him 5 - 10 games and he will be back up to speed.

    - KJ. Holy cow! DDR has been solid and is shooting the ball well but I think we know who has the ‘3’ spot on lock for the next decade.
Kudos to all the early adopters. KJ is awesome.

One thing that was great about Keldon tonight was his adjustment to pull up instead of barrel through and pick up a charge. I saw at least one floater and some other adjustments to get a good shot off.

If the most important thing this year is development-- a theory I actually agree with-- than why are DeRozan & Eubanks getting a combined 61 minutes while Vassell gets zero? What's getting developed there?
