At some point, it’s gotta quit being just coaching as the issue. The personnel just isn’t good either. Lonnie and Jakob’s inability to finish isn’t just coaching. Same with DJ’s inconsistency.

I'm probably kidding myself to a degree in hoping Becky won't have learned the same bad habits/gameplans that Pop has been using these last few years, but you're kidding yourself to think it's more personnel than gameplan. We literally cannot defend any team on the perimeter, and it's not that we lack the bodies. We overhelp unnecessarily when teams are hardly going for the midrange anymore, consistently leaving a shooter wide open. After a few hundred times of the same "mistake" happening, you gotta see it's by design, tbh.

Assistant coaches collaborate with the head coach on game plans. If that's not what they do, what do they do? Becky's fingerprints are on that game plan too. I don't understand ever when people think that things will change drastically when people beg for an assistant coach to take over, especially when that assistant coach has been under the head coach's wing for many years.

It's consistently the same players overhelping. It's what's between the ears. Rudy has always been undisciplined on defense, no game plan is changing that. Patty's probably the only one where it's not a problem with IQ, but that he's too slow to catch up to guys with no length to compensate that. DeMar overhelps. Lonnie overhelps (could still develop discipline). It's the same guys.

Murray is not that good of a player. No one should be surprised when he sucks. Just like every other Spurs player. There is no one on this team that will be consistent.

This, tbh. Keldon emerging as a young star is enough to make this season worthwhile. A top lottery pick would be icing on the cake - and the realization that the team needs a big overhaul, a byproduct of big losses, would also be great. People aren't looking at the bigger picture here.

I don't know about that, tbh. I actually really like(d) that the Spurs still tried to play differently from the genous style the league has turned into. It's clear that it doesn't work, but I don't know if my enjoyment of games would go up if we started jacking 3's. Keldon's game is really fun to watch, and he doesn't do that.

Bro I live in Europe, I'd at least feel better about ing up my sleep cycle if this team was able to win some games lol

On a serious note, I enjoy the approach of trying to find a unique way to play winning ball (in any sport) a lot, too. This team can be fun though when they shoot the ball a lot. The season opener in Memphis was refreshing, and they barely hesitated on firing threes with confidence there. Makes it easier for Demar and LA to operate in the midrange, too.
Tonight, our young guns except KJ (as usual) seemed like they doubted every one of their actions, especially visible with Walker. Attack the basket, use the midrange, but we simply need to shoot at least some long balls.
