Would love to have a conditioning coach from Oregon in the Chip Kelly days.
Things are looking much better for Grad transfer CB Darion Dunn sticking with Texas after Sark reached out to him recently. Gerry Hamilton reported this earlier today. OU and TCU have been talking to him.

exactly... thanks for that. But a good combination of speed work, even for lineman, would be good with a solid weight "rah rah" guy. Those 2 together could make some monsters. appreciate the effort in that research

The Ol' Chipster says to keep an eye on Dan Quinn for DC at Texas. He was told Quinn wants to get back into coaching the college game and is interested in the Texas DC job.
There was some grumbling the new DC might be Pete Golding, who Saban is reportedly considering running off
Their defense did slip some this season - from 9th in DFEI last season to 34th
But 247 says it wont happen

I like it
Football Scoop says Sark has made Corey Raymond (LSU cb coach) a serious offer
He is a top shelf recruiter
texas, for now at least, has an advantage over all other schools because of its reputation and strong traditions. of course, being located in austin also helps. but if texas doesn't get back on track with winning soon one has to wonder how younger players, who did not grow up seeing texas as a winner, will be drawn to the program for that reason.
I feel ya RJV, but Texas isn't like Tech or Kansas State. Purely just having the name "TEXAS" on the front of the jersey and the colors, traditions, plus past excellence in VY and "old-timers" talking about Earl and Ricky... it is hard to say Texas will ever be in a baddddd place. Well worse off than this. I mean seriously, it's been 10 years of mediocrity/flat out embarrassing games to be a fan of, but we are still getting commitments from players like Quinn Ewers, JaTavion Sanders, Bijan, even though not Quinn isn't currently committed, Bijan is a man who could've went anywhere.

you need to look at top recruits in Texas last year. We got our ass KICKED ! It is embarrassing. Herman was miserable at recruiting that cycle, and was getting his ass handed to him again this cycle.
Hopefully Sark can get it turned around. Like rjv said he HAS to win. I think he will do a good job, but wonder if has what it takes to compete with OU.
A few top recruits will always come here, but a few is not gonna get us where we can compete for the nattys. we need to retain Texas talent, if we keep our top Texas talent and get a couple from other states we’ll be fine.
only way for that to happen is start winning.
From Ketch:
In talking to a couple of different sources about the vacant defensive backs job, I've been told that current Tennessee defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley is a coach of interest for Steve Sarkisian.
One source I spoke with on Thursday night believes that Ansley is ahead of LSU cornerbacks coach Corey Raymomd, who I will have more in tonight's War Room.
Ansley has three things really going for him.
a. He's a monster defensive backs coach and regarded as one of the best young defensive coordinators in college football.
b. He's a monster recruiter.
c. He's a Jimmy Sexton client.
d. He wants out of Tennessee from what we're hearing.
I think the hire of Corey Raymond would turn some more recruits heads taking the coach responsible for continuing to turn out all the DB’s at LSU. Hopefully we grab whoever was Sarks first option.
Unbelievable the mess Herman left us in with this year’s recruiting class. Had no clue until now that Bama has 7 players in their class from Texas and every single one of them blue chips that we either had committed or led for at one point and time with exception of Jaedon Roberts. Such a letdown. Hope Sark has some tricks up his sleeve to end this cycle.
lol, how long you guys been uttering that qualifier?
Horns 24/7
— One intriguing name to keep an eye on as a possible receivers coach candidate for Steve Sarkisian would be his former BYU teammate - Dennis Simmons, who just happens to be the receivers coach at Oklahoma.
Sources told Horns247 Sarkisian has an interest in Simmons, who played linebacker at BYU in the mid-1990s when Sarkisian played quarterback for the Cougars under LaVelle Edwards.
Simmons' first big break in coaching came with Mike Leach at Texas Tech as a quality control analyst and then as receivers coach, helping Michael Crabtree earn the 2009 Biletnikoff Award. Simmons went with Ruffin McNeill and Lincoln Riley from Texas Tech to East Carolina (2010-11) before rejoining Leach at Washington State (2012-14).
In 2015, Simmons joined Oklahoma's staff, helping Dede Westbrook win the Biletnikoff Award in 2016 and helping Ceedee Lamb win the Biletnikoff Award in 2019. Simmons added the le of associate head coach at OU in the spring of 2019.
It wouldn't be easy to lure Simmons away from OU, but we're hearing Sark has an interest in his former BYU teammate, who is considered a strong recruiter.
Inside Texas
Dennis Simmons is beginning to surface as a possible option as a wide receivers coach. He was teammates with Steve Sarkisian at BYU.
Nick Saban has tried on two different occasions to hire him away, but Simmons has stayed with Riley and Oklahoma.
Simmons has coached with and under Lincoln Riley for over a decade at this point.
To this point, it's been considered highly unlikely Simmons would leave Oklahoma.
if you are Sarkisian, it's worth the effort. Simmons has been one of the best wide receiver recruiters in the CFB the last few years. He has long standing relationships with Texas high school coaches, is a volume recruiter outside of his position and is very good friends with influential position instructors in the state.
