Bull . He could directly communicate with FEMA or any other organization and coordinate with cons uents. He could get a direct look at what problems people are having. Lobbying is much more meaningful and successful in person.

Optically it's a mess for him. Realistically the net effect on the people of Texas is the same. Since no one really knows what the other senator is doing, obviously there's no impetus for senators to actually do anything. This means it's really just a PR issue that he left. Ted Cruz wouldn't have helped Texas whether he stayed or left and your response illustrates that quite well. Is Cornyn doing the things you mentioned? Obviously he didn't go to Cancun. Or is he just sending out tweets?

Just checked out John Cornyn’s Twitter feed, news reporting on him has been sparse the past few days. He has posted links to relief and charitable resources on his twitter feed, and he wrote Biden to ask for the disaster declaration Biden would have approved in any case.

Looks like Cornyn is mailing it in from vacation, but at least he didn’t get caught boarding an airplane leaving the state when it got too cold. Next to fleeing the country, pretending to care looks ok.
