The purpose of lockdowns was to "flatten the curve", not to eradicate covid.

And the purpose of flattening the curve was to keep hospitals from getting overwhelmed. If the vulnerable population has been vaccinated, and the vaccine is 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations & death, then there is no reason to worry about flattening the curve.

Sure there is, the people should be protected until herd immunity is reached and/or the pandemic is under control. That's not the case in the US, far from it.
Too bad the vulnerable population is far from fully protected in the US. So natutaly cases and hospitalizations will rise due to opening up too early.
And even if we never have another covid death what about when the dinosaurs died? I mean there's always something that we can really be freaked out or worried about. Let's not remove the drama just yet. There are still tweets to post.
