China can already knock out Taiwans airforce and patriot missiles in the first 24 hours. They will be sitting ducks. China has enough sophisticated missiles to keep the US navy at a distance and we will NEVER land ground troops to delay the inevitable. That will be Chinas coming out party to announce they are the new king on the block.
They will not damage Taiwan when they can have it playing the long game.
There does not need to be a shot fired. Taiwan has missiles as well. We have armed Taiwan so China can get hurt, and so they will have to clean up a big mess. There is no reason to go now, or they already would have. They wont even outright take Hong Kong, they dont need to.

You're confusing invading/conquering and ruling. Afghanistan and Vietnam can and have been invaded/conquered. It's just those ers have proved they would rather live in caves and tunnels than be ruled.
China & Russia can and have been invaded but they can't be conquered due to their vast and harsh geography.
USA is protected by oceans and allies that we control to the north and south. Plus we are blessed with all the natural resources we need including energy thanks to fracking. So being the richest most secure country on the planet of course makes us ultra paranoid so we over react to everything
After thousands of years China is still boxed in by enemies and geography but finally gets to the point where all of it's people can make $2/day instead of starving and Americans are freaking out that we going to be taken over by the ChiComs lol.

I don't know why you mention Saudi as a country that matters to the USA. They have no military capabilities and we are now energy independent. Only becoming more so as we move toward electrification. Securing middle east oil supplies is soon to be Europe and Asia's problem, not ours. Literally the only thing in this country that the left and right agree on is no more wars for oil.
