Seriously, this sounds like an awesome trade. I wonder how Bonner and Duncan will do running a high lo setup considering Bonner has a good shot.
OK, I remember Bonner from the orange mini-fro,![]()
His NBA player pic is short hair.

Well I've seen Bonner play but not Williams, looks a little too old for my tastes, what's why I asked if he was a throw in.....
Looks like a decent trade, especially for Holt Cat...
Brent Barry will probably be next. He has 5.1 mil and 5.5 mil due over the next two years.
Bonner's rebounding numbers aren't great, but that's because the Raptors played him a lot at small forward. If you look at his rebounding numbers as if he were a small forward, they'd be good.
With the Spurs, this guy will play a lot next to Tim Duncan. If he can turn into a decent rebounding power forward, he's going to be a Spur for a long, long time.
I'm hyping this guy up pretty good but I'm confident in my assessments because I've seen him play a whole lot. Half of you reading this thread will own a Matt Bonner jersey within a couple years.
Out of curiosity, why do you say all-around, if he is merely just an excellent shooter?
Is he a good defender or passer? Scorer in the post?
His rebounding is poor for a PF and average for an SF. What is he good at besides shooting? (Just asking cause I can't remember his game aside from his shooting prowess). Just going by the stats.
Williams has had years where he's been a reasonable 3-point threat, so seein him in spot duty for Bruce isn't a reach in many ways.
I simply can't believe the Spurs would be going after Nazr when they sat him basically all spring and playoffs.
RC must be playing "off-season poker" saying he wants Nazr.![]()
His contract is guaranteed, I don't think they will waive him if he sucks.
The best thing to do is to trade him at the deadline to a team under the cap in a deal like : Williams + cash to pay his remaining salary + 2nd rounder for nothing. With this kind of trade, Spurs will likely go under the tax threshold.
I've seen him play as well and I agree...
Aren't players really bad when playing for Toronto?
kick ass in toronto rasho on 80 nights a year.
bonner is definitely quite interesting, love his game.....he provides some things we need and hopefully he can improve.
what is his defensive game like? I have never really paid attention to him aside from watching him from afar and liking some of the things he could do with the ball.
Matt Bonner was a fan fav in TO after his flagrant foul on K.G...try to find the vid its so funny when KG and spreewell try to kill him.
True that would be the best situation. But I think it depends on if they need the roster space and who else they are bringing in.
Ever since they waived Mercer, I don't put it past them to waive people with money on their contracts![]()
If you're right that he can play the enforcer and he can even be an average rebounder, this guy is a massive win for us. Way cool.
Eric Williams I thought was a very good role player back when he played for the Nets. Didn't keep up him this year, so I don't know.
All I know, is that Timvp doesn't hype bad players. His word is good enough for me.
Too old...
He's no where close to a Danny Ferry player.
He's a good defender. Very good against bulky players. His only trouble on defense is when he's playing small forward and he gets stuck guarding a quick player like Manu or Rip or someone like that. But matched up against someone his size, he's a very good defender.
I've seen him make good passes. He's at least a very willing passer. And given the minutes at power forward, I think he'd be a pretty good shotblocker (1 per game). He also doesn't turn the ball over, which is nice to see.
I'm telling you, Bonner is going to surprise. He didn't get to play in position much next to Bosh and Villanueva last year, but put this guy next to Duncan and you have Malik Rose with a three point shot.
He'll also be a perfect player to put on Dirk. He gives the Spurs a legit small ball power forward. And , if he plays as good as I know he can, he might end up starting next to Tim.
Wow, getting rid of Rasho without giving up a pick is pretty impressive, no matter what the names on the 1 year deals we're getting back are. In fact we even got a 2nd rounder out of this... Not bad at all!
i love what i hear there timvp
Exactly.
That's why no one can complain but the girls who love Rasho.
But they got back Bonner, so those same girls will love the new white guy in no time.
sad loss, i liked rasho
yeah i'm down with that
So you're saying he suffers from the Boris Diaw complex?
