Basically identical, 3yrs at 85 M. Lowry and DDR can get together and laugh about it, I guess.
I believe so. Kind of like Westbrook traded including other teams after the fact.

Brooklyn wants Thad Young and has a trade exception. Maybe we’re working with Sean Marks here
I believe so which is why it might makes sense to reroute the Chicago players now. That said, I think Spurs can flip Thad, McBob, and even Forbes to contenders at the deadline for real assets, so wont be sad if it doesn’t happen now.
Interesting thought
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the Nets trade exception too low to fit Young’s salary?
Is it big enough to take in his salary? I didn't think it was
It's not. It's 11.5 million, Thad's salary is 14.2 million. Can they send us a player to match? Not sure if that's allowed
No, I believe you can only attach a pick with a trade exception. The incoming player can’t be over the trade exception value.
When Thad Young was included in the Bulls deal it gave the impression he’d be the Rudy Gay replacement. Implying the Spurs would keep him. We’ll see.
Young can be packaged with other players starting August 22 according to an NBA trade machine site
Listened to a Pacers podcast from the 1st night of free agency and they were talking about things that sound perfect for Young.
The team said they wanted to add a culture changer, an 'al Jefferson-type'. Young was beloved in Chicago.
And they're in a win-now mode.
They're close to the tax i think so they wouldn't want to take back too much extra.
Don't know if Turner fits with SA but maybe a 3 team deal
Turner would be great here. I heard they wanted a vet as a locker room presence and Young played there before.
Maybe Young + Poeltl for Turner + filler. That would be a great deal for us, but wouldn't open up any roster spots nor help Indiana shed salary. Maybe adding Aminu or Hutchinson so they can waive them and get some cap relief would get it done. Would be stupid to give up a player who was in the DPOY race at the start of the season for that though.
It’s hard to see the Pacers paying that much for a backup for Sabonis.
Spurs orchestrating historic 30 team trade to spread levity throughout league...oh yeah per wohj
He started every game. How is he a back up?
Exactly.
Listened to a different pacers podcast and they were talking about the slim possibility of doing a sign and trade of McDermott into the Spurs space.
The gist was them sending the Spurs a 2nd to do it, and because of has base year compensation the resulting trade exception would only be worth $7 million, but they could carry it into the start of next off_-season before it expires and then have that plus the mle to improve their team next year
So Spurs would send back a top 55 protected second (i.e. something that never conveys)? Or draft rights to someone like Hanga? Would have to send something back
Right.
The Spurs rummaged around in a drawer and found Cady Lalanne, so there’s no doubt they could come up with something. I don’t know the technicalities, but apparently it wouldn’t have to be an active player.
Kawhi has officially re-signed with the Clippers, but I see no contract details.
Again, I was right that Spurs needed to force Lakers and Clippers into a bidding war.
Spurs finally announce some of their moves.

San Antonio Acquires Second Round Pick & Chandler Hutchison in Five-Team Trade
Posted: Aug 06, 2021
SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 6, 2021) – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have acquired a 2022 second round draft pick and Chandler Hutchison for the draft rights to Nikola Milutinov as part of a five-team trade that included the Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards.
Doesn't it make sense to acquire Hutchinson first if he will just be waived?
Milutinovwe’ll miss you bro
