The offense had its issues but let's be realistic
One offseason wasn't going to change who we have. If you are looking for a Bama Oline in week 1, something is wrong with you. That was a great team win. It took a few years for Bama to get to where it is with Saban. Crazy how some of you were expecting an 180° in the first real organized game. As the season goes, this team will get better.
Bobby Burton:
What a strong first-game performance.
From Sark.
From Kwiatkowski.
From Bijan.
From Card.
This was a team win.
**
Fact:
The Horns not only scored more points against Louisiana than any team did a year ago.
The Horns also allowed fewer points than any team that Louisiana played last year.
**
Hudson Card answered the call.
Any questions about his ability or Steve Sarkisian’s decision to make him the starter is out the window.
Third-and-long no longer seems like the wing and a prayer that Tom Herman made it.
**
Bijan’s TD reception was as wide open as any Texas player has been in the last 10 years.
**
Roschon Johnson’s leap on a third-down conversion may have been the most outstanding individual play of the game.
**
Jordan Whittington made multiple third-down grabs. Marcus Washington should get an assist on Whittington’s catch-and-run TD because of an excellent block.
**
Texas was well coached on both sides of the ball. While there were some penalties, specifically too many holds on the OL, the team played solid football all around.
Even on special teams, the Horns were ready for a squib kick in the third quarter after Louisiana had just scored.

I’m not saying this game was perfect. Far from it.
But if you didn’t have a smile after you left the stadium or turned off the TV today, then I’m not sure what to tell you.
Texas has a QB. They have reasonable talent overall. And they have a good coaching staff.
Suchomel:
Five-star offensive lineman Kam Dewberry wasn't able to make it in after a long Friday night/Saturday morning (Atascocita played in Allen on Friday night). I did communicate with his dad though, who said they were impressed with how good Texas looked.
Cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau did make it in and said he thought Texas looked great. I'll try to catch up with him tomorrow to get a more detailed report on the visit.
I know guys like Derrick Brown and Armani Winfield were in as well, and 2023 OL Robert Sweeney told me he had a blast.
I'll reach out to all of those guys and some others tomorrow.
Whitt looked great Saturday! If him and Bijan stay healthy this team might make a run. That’s with the understanding the OL will improve somewhat.
I would prefer that we are the underdog going into Saturday. I understand why we are the favorites, but still, I want our players to have a chip on their shoulders........
I was hoping to see JaTavian Sanders in the game. I might have missed it, did anyone see him ? Think he is a red shirt candidate? I’m not sure he would be ok with that.
He had a holding penalty.
played special teams ?
