For some reason, Mark Esper was replaced after Biden beat Trump, in early December of 2020.
Trump really wanted US armed forces to shoot protesters. Perhaps he held a grudge against Esper for not letting him.

Only one Democrat has requested an endorsement from Joe Biden, the most popular Democrat in history. Pharma-Friendly Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) has received Biden's endorsement in hopes that it will help him defeat his progressive primary challenger.
