Scientific study shows that people are more easily controlled if you scare them with complicated science they prefer to trust you on rather than trying to learn themselves. Then science shows that a controlled population is a better functioning population - freedom is chaotic and not as advertised. This is where science proves that tell the public to not wear masks even if that's the best medical advice, was actually bad political advice because they didn't know what to do at that point. So the CDC along with politicicans (the GOP at that time) decided to have the public wear handkerchiefs and stockings and all kinds of rags and over their face. That helped calm the crowd and scientific evidence shows that a calmed crowd that believes they are protecting themselves will return to spending their money, maybe stop hoarding TP and total chaos can be averted. This is why the CDC lied to the public and has been trying to play catch up since. But politicians are also science dumb (for the most part) so once someone like Fauci has an in, he really needs to ensure the demand for his services continue. So it's mask on, mask off, hurry what's the next "Fauci may I" command? It's all science based, just not all in your best interest as an individual. Maybe as a collective of consumers though.
