Primo might be as bad as Danny Green dribbling the ball against pressure. He's actually very creative with the ball once he gets to the rim, but even centers can check him straight-up and get a hand on the ball. It's clear it's going to take years for him to get that right, but you can see the improvement in his game. Pretty happy overall with where the guys are, but I'm a bit uncertain as to why the Spurs gave Wieskamp this contract unless it was agreed-to back pay ala LJC back in the day. I'd waive him and give him Hall's spot on a two-way if he doesn't get claimed and wants to come back. Hall should be in Austin.

It's not going to take him years. Likely will be far better by the end of the season.

So this is the starting five going into Wednesday

    Jones and Vassell are 22
    Johnson is 23
    Sohan is 19

Coach has never started someone as young as Sohan.

Add in 20 year old Primo and possibly 19 yr. Branham and that’s six rotation players under 25. It’s gonna be entertaining 82 games

I didn't say it's going to take him years to show improvement. I think he's shown some already. But, yeah, it's probably going to be something he'll have to improve over the course of his career, like how most players improve their shot over time and not just in one d-league stint like Keldon did. I hope ball-handling becomes a real strength of his, like it became for Kawhi. But that usually takes years of development, not just a season's worth of games.

they could've given jock 30 mpg this year and then traded him while his stock was up.

just crazy how the spurs don't ... trade while a player's value is high. la, demar ... gave jock away for nothing. the suns got him for the minimal amount of money a player could be traded for.

For the love of god, please stop trying to involve Poeltl in the offense so much.
On the contrary, you would like to get Poeltl involved in the offense and early.

His handle is nowhere bad as Greens….stop it! Josh will be a better ball handler ( with advance moves ) than Dj, Danny, or maybe even Kawhi ever was! Book it!

They almost try to force-feed the guy like he's the center of the offensive picture. It was kinda irritating

He's already just about where DJ was the first 3 years of his career lol

Danny Green could never make these moves and you know that. By the time Primo got 5 NBA seasons under him he'll only be 23, so I'm pretty confident that he will put it together

I get what you are saying. I think Primo has some excellent advanced moves which are very acceptable for a 2/3 but has a weak "live dribble". That's going to be a problem if the Spurs continue to push him as a PG / lead ball handler. Hopefully dealing with those issues now help him in the long run but it does work both ways and I would hate to see his confidence sapped because of poor ball security. If he was being played more off-ball and only being asked to make dribble plays off of the catch, against a close out, in transition and in secondary actions, nobody would be complaining about his ballhandling, in my opinion.

I know you are kidding about LDN and the ball handling though. I love that man so very much but his work against pressure was just hilarious.

Looking forward to seeing Osmane and Jalen Williams (CA not AR lol)
I'm gonna take a moment to gloat. As I took a lot of for suggesting Dieng at the #9 spot. But...

Dieng had himself a very solid ROOKIE pre-season:

    24 MPG
    11 PPG
    3.4 RPG
    1.4 APG
    58 FG%
    47 3PT%
    69.16 TS%

Those are very solid numbers for a kid relatively new to basketball. I'd say not bad at all for a "complete project" or a "total reach," etc.

I'll see myself out now. Smugly, so.

He's improved his handle undoubtedly but that means when you still dribble into traffic and turn the ball over as a forced PG with the consistency he does.

I like Primo's improvement and he definitely has some nice moves for a kid that young but i really feel like SA is doing him a disservice by trying to fit him into a backup PG role when he isnt a PG, imo

If I heard the reports correctly, then it sounds like Primo is being slated more as a six man than the back up point guard maybe? I think coming in as a microwave makes more sense than being just a point guard.

For the roster as it is now, he is probably playing the Manu role.

I don't give enough of a to switch back to DirecTV Stream just to watch a ty tanking team. I'm keeping YouTube TV this year, and I'll watch whatever comes on there. If Bally Sports is gonna limit itself to one streaming service, then you I'm not watching.
