Here's my hope: we lose a lot of games to get more lottery balls, but that we are compe ive in every game and that our young guys get better, but not too good because it will be a lost season if we find ourselves in a playin- spot.
would be a good idea for timvp to write something like this before the opener imo

My hope is that Doug, Josh, Romeo, and Jakob have such amazing seasons that the spurs are forced to move them. And, in doing so they get decent picks for each.
Keldon gets a heart.
Poeltl gets courage.
Vassell gets a brain.
Spurs end up with a top-3 pick.
I hope nba.com is right having the Spurs 30th of 30 in their power rankings heading into opening night

Top 2 pick and Pop retiring tbh

And Pop turns out to just be an old man behind a curtain.
This road is gonna have plenty of bricks, that's for sure.
haha 75% of this board is Dorothy clicking their heels thinking KJ, Primo and Vassell are the future of another dynasty
1. Barlow may turn out to be the pick of the litter of our draftees. I didn't see any obvious flaws in his physical skillset that have to be overcome. Just give him some playing time to adjust to the older, wiser, more physical players and I believe he can become the modern day PF we have been looking for. We'll see.
2. The other first round picks are OK so far also but not the start of a future dynasty. Each player has work to do on parts of their game. We'll probably play them more than warranted anyway just because of the rebuild mentality. And that's OK.
3. When Chip Engeland writes his memoirs he will reveal that he left because the Spurs wanted Sochan and he didn't want his reputation as a shooting coach ruined by the almost impossible task of teaching him to shoot at the NBA level.
4. Planned tanking to get a #1 by purposely losing games isn't a statistically sound strategy. Hasn't worked well in the past for teams that tried as I recall. But our final ranking is likely to be at or near the bottom anyway without purposely losing games.
5, Tanking isn't on Pop's agenda. They don't teach Air Force Academy guys to lose. He is a prideful man. HE WILL NOT SIT OUR BEST PLAYERS IN ORDER TO LOSE A GAME> You can take that to the bank.
^ Barlow was undrafted
wemby baby
Pop just gotta sub in the 3rd stringers if we got a lead in the 4th quarter
Im in my Ruby Reds doing the same for VW lolz.
When tankers tell the truth - TrueHoop- ESPN
1996-97 end of season Spurs. Coach Craig Pop.
Meh David broke his foot in late December and the team was already 11-33 by early February when was the earliest he could have possibly come back. What's the point then? No reason to play Russian Roulette when your franchise has the kind of injury that ends bigmen's careers when you rush them back from it. The season was already lost by then. You're not making the playoffs coming from 11-33.
Meh I'm not rushing the franchise back in a lost year after a broken foot even if I have already traded my pick.
If only OKC and Chet had listened to you.
Ya the Spurs tanked the end of the season. Already sucked, but made sure by tanking the end.
No shame. It brought the foundation of the Championship Spurs.
Duncan was 90% of the reason the Spurs Chip'd. I won't be convinced otherwise.
We are on the low end of the spectrum, like the Bucks were for a while. Team got blown up the last couple years. The Big 3 was pretty unique.
