Yep. Had he been going out of bounds, because he had two feet on the ground, they'd say he had possession and it would be considered a competed pass. But that field was as bad as the AT&T center air conditioning. "Both teams had to play on it!" sure but one team is known for pass rush and that was nullified.
theres different rules for sideline/out of bounds catches because there simply isnt the time for a "football move". but in this case, after sanders caught the ball and got both feet down, looked like he hopped up before impact which should definitely have been considered the "football move" prior to him losing possession. im astonished it got overturned. worst call of the game. the holding at the end was soft, but he grabbed jersey and thats one of the big signs refs look for.

OK thanks for the clarification on that rule.

really sucks being stuck in the same division as mahomes on a 10 year contract... but just gotta admire his greatness. i was pretty bitter over brady most of his career but by the time the patriots rang against the falcons i just started applauding brady and recognized what i was watching. not gonna wait that long to appreciate mahomes

Herd made a couple interesting points

    A) There was tape of Eagles defense over-persuing. And even cheating on motion plays. Reid is great friends with Pederson and Jags played Philly early in the season...

    B) The shaky field neutralized the teams pass rush

    C) Belichick always forced his defenders to wear white gloves in the SB when their opponent wore white jerseys

This was the biggest thing, especially on those two wide open tuddys. Eagles secondary kept falling apart every time Chiefs went into motion in the 2nd half.

Andy Reid was out there playing 3d chess last night.

Ya since it required 8 year old Pop Warner defensive know how to stop those 2 TDs.

    Genius.

Chirs Simms made a couple of great points about Mahomes' legacy that nobody is talking about:

    1) In the three Superbowls he has played, he has had the lesser team. The least talented one. If you rank the 20 best players in each of those SB's, the opossing team gets more than 50% of the spots. Still, he won 2 out of 3. This speaks volumes about how his individual greatness tilts the scale in favour of his team.

    2) He just arguably had the greatest individual season for a QB ever. Let's recount:

-Lead the NFL in passing yards.
    -Lead the NFL in TDs.
    -Won regular season MVP.
    -Won Superbowl MVP.
    -Won Superbowl.
-1st QB ever to lead the league in passing yards and win the superbowl.
-1st player since 1999 to win regular season MVP and win the Superbowl.
-1st QB to lead the number 1 passing offense to a SB victory over the number 1 passing defense in NFL history.

I disagree in that I think a lot of people realize this and are talking about it. I flip around between three sports shows in the morning and everyone of them had a segment on how good he is.

Yeah lol I think pretty much every talking head is saying those things. Most pundits picked the eagles to win because they have the overall better talent.

Bucs I agree had the superior roster.

49ers I'm not sure. This was offense led by Mostert & Sanders. Staley retired after the game. Strength of the team was the defensive line but Chiefs counter with Jones/Clark. Kwon Alexander was injured but played and got ran over all day.

Eagles. 2 of their best players are WRs...in a running offense.

49ers/Eagles both heavily relied on pass rush and it was nullified in part by chance. Philly sloppy field and SF officiating crew with the least holding calls of the season.

I think Mahomes had a great AFCCG outplaying Burrow. Sunday the scramble was a legacy play. I didn't see much else, I think Hurts stole the show. Mahomes seems due for a Super Bowl where he has a monster game but losses late.

2 massive punt returns on the final drive in the past 2 games. I think we can credit Mahomes with giving his teammates confidence. In terms of how much credit Mahomes should get for the 2 SB wjns...I think it's overstated. Reid has built the best current team culture in the NFL. Team has immense stability at the management level. Roster is really well structured unlike the NFC teams that make a 1-year run then retool.

Mahomes just didn't have the much at all. I think Hurts was the MVP all in all but you can't give it to the loser. Also that fumble six was brutal

Could you name these other shows that said Mahomes played his 3 SB's on the lesser team and that his 2022 season was the best QB season ever? I literally heard no one other than Simms bring these points, and I've watched pretty much every sports show there is: First Take, First Thing's First, Max Kellerman, Florio, Stephen A. You name it.

This year is unarguably, dude. Eagles had probowl level guys at every line.

    O-line: Eagles
    D-line: Eagles
    Secondary: Eagles
    Linebackers: Eagles
    Receivers: Eagles
    Running game: Eagles

The only positions where the Chiefs were better were QB and TE.

49ers might be closer because the Chiefs still had Tyreek and Mathieu, but, still, that 49ers team was stacked on every position sans your boy Crappopolo.

I think the Eagles D line was so good it masked some serious issues with their LBs and secondary, especially the secondary. It looked like the Chiefs had a really good look at how Dallas was able to move the ball easily against them in their second meeting. Moore wasn't smart enough to use the jet sweep variations properly

Let's say the Eagles' LBs and secondary were overrated, they are still better than the Chiefs' LBs and secondary full of rookies and 2nd year guys.

Chiefs D also looked a lot better once they got to rest a little while the offense stayed on the field longer, and vise versa

...I'm not going to do that. I can name the three I listen to..."The Ticket", "The Freak", and Espn Radio Dallas. All three of those had not one bad thing to say about Mahomes. He made plays when it counted. He sees the field better than anyone and makes plays when it counts. I don't think they punted in the second half. I think they only had 8 possessions in the whole game and they put up 38. I don't think anyone is legit talking about Mahomes being a choker.

Maybe you should quite watching Kellerman, Stephan A., etc.

I can't imagine anyone seriously piling on Mahomes. Maybe you can give me some links.

I DVR the Herd & First Take now

Speak For Yourself with Wiley was my go to. Don't even watch now since the major changes.

ESPN stuff is too shock jock for me. Emotional characters.

But when did I ever talk about folks piling on Mahomes? Reading comprehension, son.

I'm just talking about those two very specific points: being on the lesser team on every SB he played; and having the best season ever for a QB. Those are two huge points when talking about legacies and I haven't heard anyone else mention them. Have you?

    > He's a Chiefs fan and he ranks the Mahomes scramble the greatest play of his career. Because Chiefs probably wouldn't have scored. And he references the injury.

Really? It was 1st & 10 in Eagles territory with 2:55 remaining and 2 timeouts. I get the injury factor though.

Yes! I have heard at least a couple of times about how the Eagles were better on paper. I don't remember them delving into stats but they did mention that he's the only QB since Warner to get a regular season MVP and be in the Super Bowl. Honestly, I haven't heard a negative thing about him. It's all been about how he might be the best QB we'll see. And everyone seems to acknowledge that his WR corps is pretty bad. I don't think it's as bad as they say if Moore and Tony progresses.

You're trying to make a really weird point that doesn't exist imo.

3 Most Important Plays of the game
    - Record setting Punt return
    - Hurts 2Pt conversion
    - Hurts fumble TD

None involving Mahomes. But Patrick did play a surprisingly very even keel game. He usually has more flashes but also a headscratcher.
