It's three sentences and all about having a "regulated militia." It has nothing to do with children being able to buy all the AR-15s and ammunition they desire. "Myth" is a good word for how it's discussed today.

Because despite decades of precedence of the American work environment being a place of unity and comradery towards common goals, we unfortunately have a coach who thinks its proper and prudent to use it to discuss wedge political issues.

He may as well weigh in on abortion and gender reassignment surgery for toddlers while he's at it...

Am sure Pop has weighed in on those issues, but this thread topic belongs in the political forum unless you want to be bombarded by welshing OP's racist BS.

Respectfully, the most triggered posters seem to agree with Pop rather than disagree. See below.

I'm not especially passionate about this issue. The second amendment is written ambiguously enough in the context of a very different society that it is reasonable for people to come to different conclusions. I would say the wording of the second amendment in addition to the broader context of the Bill of Rights and other founding do ents reflects a fear of tyrannical federal government, not Indian raids. The founders, if they understood modern cir stances, would probably want Americans to be armed. The founders are not, however, the ultimate arbiters of moral Truth. If you want different policies I understand that.

On discussions of policy, I overwhelming find right-wingers more articulate and more capable in exploring the nuances, while left-wingers tend to make broad statements and challenge anyone who opposes them as evil or stupid (see posts above). Much of this is because the former know much more about guns, their limitations, and current regulations than the latter due to actually dealing with them and not just reading opinions from media and politicians. They're not necessarily smarter or 100% correct of course, but it does make them better conversation partners and more persuasive.

Aggression is usually a poor method of persuasion anyway. For this particular topic, the more aggressive and tyrannical you sound, the more confident right-wingers are that you're a threat. More respect might get you further.
Geez, What a crock of crap that was.

Yup, back in the day, firearms were single round muskets not semi-automatic firearms with high capacity magazines.

Plus, founding fathers Jefferson and Madison explicitly banned firearms at the University of Virginia.

I hate Democrats and Republicans, conservatives, and liberals. If we could dump 10% from the far left and the far right, we might have a chance.

I usually come in here to share Spurs anecdotes and make bad jokes, but a friend of mine, Jimmy Greene, lost his daughter in the Sandy Hook massacre. I went to the funeral. I knew Ana Grace, the daughter that was murdered. We’re way beyond Democrats and Republicans in the US. Sandy Hook feels so long ago, yet we haven’t passed any gun reform because of the NRA and politicians that are willing to sell their morals to the highest bidder. I’m going to miss Pop when he is gone. At least someone is standing up for the children that can no longer speak for themselves.

Sorry for your loss and that of your friend my man. I lost a close friend in the Aurora CO shooting. It's hard coping with loss like that.

Tell me you’re indoctrinated, without telling me you’re indoctrinated. That’s a ridiculous statement you just made.
The only indoctrinated are people who don't want to protect their children and families in the name of a misinterpreted 3 century old amendment corresponding to a particular situation but some people worship as it was some Universe fundamental law. It's 2023, people who wrote that amendment would tell everyone how stupid they are today not to fix it.

Since I'm totally cluelless and I'm an obscure no lifer, I'm gonna make a wannabe cool meme to hurt the credibility of a 5 time NBA champion, winningest coach in history who have no idea who I am about a season everyone knows, starting by said fans who are all in, is about tanking.

    Talk about delusion.

Bc back then if you didn’t have a gun you were dead. Guns were very useful in the 1700s.
Most colonials, as research has shown, only about 13 percent, had access to a gun and many of them couldn't get the relics stored in the corner to work. The rest of the population didn't own a gun with a huge percentage of that number never having even fired a musket prior to the war.

As Craig kilbourne said on the original daily show the second amendment was written when bullets were made out of putty and it took a fortnight to reload
