we can speculate on how he is able to do it. Retired or disabled are my top two guesses.

Wow! This coincides with my regional return. I neeeeeed. Thank you for the great news brother.
The backtracking.
SOF gonna SOF.
Just like the nuclear threats he doesn't want NATO entering the conflict.
This would be a good start.
Especially since he has done so poorly against the determined Ukrainians.
No one needs to speculate how you. do it though; Mommy & Daddy.![]()
We seem to be stuck in a state of war in which Russia would rather just affect the world wide economy and bring it down to their level instead of losing face.
They are going in on maximum destruction and wartime economy mode and then try to build back again in decades. Eventually Ukraine will have to hit targets regularly in Russia. At best this evolves into a N. Korea South Korea like situation in a few years. With constant "small" flareups... All imo of course.
Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive actions on at least three sectors of the front on June 16 and reportedly made gains. The Ukrainian General Staff stated that the Ukrainian forces conducted successful counteroffensive operations southwest of Bakhmut near Stupochky (about 12km southwest of Bakhmut); in western Donetsk Oblast near Vuhledar; in the western Donetsk-eastern Zaporizhia Oblast border area along the Levadne-Staromaiorske line; and in western Zaporizhia Oblast along the Novodanlylivka-Robotyne line.[1] Geolocated footage posted on June 15 indicates that Ukrainian forces have made marginal gains on the northwestern outskirts of Bakhmut west of Yahidne, and Russian milbloggers claimed that Ukrainian troops continued counterattacks northwest, west, and southwest of Bakhmut.[2] Russian milbloggers additionally claimed that Ukrainian forces continued attacking Russian positions south of Velyka Novosilka in western Donetsk Oblast, made gains in central Zaporizhia Oblast just south of Hulyaipole, and mounted offensive operations southwest of Orikhiv.

It was very poor judgment to stay at Rivnopil when the surrounding villages were captured nearly a week ago. It created a precarious salient for under-equipped forces there and as you can see from the video they are getting picked off now when they should’ve been pulled back days ago. Complete waste of infantry.
I don’t understand how Russian officers are still making the most basic of mistakes 16 months on now.
As time goes by, the RU army leadership reminds me of the Imperials in Star Wars.
Because Russian officers have little more experience than the mobiks do. That and the "we don't do anything without orders from above" mentality that paralyzes authoritarian regime armies.
This is a direct result of UKR deliberately shaping battlefield by taking out the C & C nodes for a week or two before this started. They worked them over, and are now working over the deeper ammo dumps.
I don't think RUS really fully appreciates how badly their combat capabilities are being degraded.

He's scared less of NATO. That's been the case since day 1.
Next stop Tokmak AFB.
With proper air support... the Ukrainians have done a of a job with little to zero air support from what I have read.
cant believe the delays sending aircraft.
