That means Sean is the 2, and David slides to the 3, leaving Timmy in his natural position at the 4.
Nah...Wemby can play the 3. David remain at 5 and Timmy remain at 4.

Thunder fans really pushing the idea that Holmgren will win ROY this year.

Chet is even skinner than Wemby...He sure need to bulk up. Nonetheless, look forward to see both match up against each other soon!

That sucks, especially with Gobert not being sure he’ll suit up for us neither. I thought FO wanted their players to participate to international compe ions, but I guess they have good reasons for that.

well, not surprised, we were discussing this in another topic.

i totally understand it honestly as much as i'd want to see the french national team with him.
and i was surprised it was considered a sure thing for almost everybody here that he would be there.

Victor seems to know what he wants, when he wants to do something, he makes it rather clear. and his last press conferences with the mets, and his coach's ones, indicated that he could skip the compe ion.

and considering his age, his development, his new arrival in SA, i really envisionned him skipping it.

he will be there for the OG and for many others international compe ions after that.

10:59 Can you tell us about your diner with Spurs legends last night? What did they share with you and what did you take from it?
Wemby It really was one of the most invaluable nights of my life, I learned a tremendous amount within a couple hours. It's really reassuring seeing these guys still live in San Antonio, the fact that they still have a relationship with the franchise and the players.
These are not just Spurs legends but NBA legends that want to help me, and won't let me make mistakes twice. Honestly, of all the rookies, not only this year, but of all time, this has to be one of the best advantages you can get.

12:21 People talk about the legacy with Tim Duncan & David Robinson but there's also the legacy of French players here in San Antonio with Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Ian Mahinmi... What do you think about this legacy, is it a boon? or a weight on your shoulders?
Wemby No, it's only positive. Because all the French players that had an impact here are people I have a great relationship with so I can call them if I need and they'll be there to help me.
It's really not a weight at all.

12:58 About next season, how do you think the NBA is going to change your game and your body?
Wemby Of course, first an important point is how seriously players are taken care of here, compared to other places in the world. Players are cared for so well here that everything is done for the player's progression & development. So of course, my game is going to evolve. People will expect different things of me in the NBA, I'll be able to develop new areas of my game. But the NBA game is what suits me best.

13:46 You talked about the Spurs legends that still live in San Antonio, is it something you could entertain? Spending your whole career here? maybe settle here afterwards? Did your first hours here make you want to do that?
Wemby Absolutely, my first hours here made me want to live here for a long time. Loyalty is something that's important to me, so, I don't know what the future holds but of course my ambition is to stay in the same franchise for a long time.

14:21 Clearly there is a lot of anticipation about your arrival in San Antonio, have you given yourself some personal goals as a player?
Wemby Of course, one of the first goals is to make an impression through my performances & helping the team, but I'll be patient with my first games and wait till I've had enough minutes in the NBA before giving myself specific goals. It's going to be a day to day grind.

15:12 Can you tell us about your arrival here, how welcome have you felt? You are going to be searching for a place to live, but do you already feel like home?
Wemby Absolutely, I feel like I'm in my rightful place. Since I've arrived I've only seen people happy about my arrival in this city. It's easy to settle into a situation when you feel appreciated. So yeah, I feel like I'm in my rightful place.
    Awesome. Thank you.

No idea where he is but to be fair with TP, he's preparing next season with his ASVEL club. that's about now that you sign players and stuff.

Parker is likely in France, it isn't a big deal.

Saying that, Parker and Wembanyama aren't on the best terms. It isn't a big deal. They won't trash each other publicly because they're both smart and know they have zero interest in doing so.

Wemby played for Parker’s team the year before last, but left to play for Mets92 to prepare for the draft. Young players are almost never featured players on European teams, and Wemby felt he needed to learn how to carry the load of being the featured player. He only played 18 minutes for ASVEL his final year there, compared to 32 for Mets92. They just had different goals.

i have often defended tony here in his playing days against some unfair but we have to admit that sometimes tony can't stop himself from taking a little subtil dig.

    - when asked about Victor career in NBA, Tony always talked about "him being healthy". I didn't see it as a real worry but more like he was searching a way to lessen the praises and the hype about Victor. he doesn't do that anymore lately

    - when asked about Victor preparation for the NBA, he insisted about the fact that Victor didn't play in th euroleague (that he would have played had he stayed in asvel). and that he didn't know if Victor really improved this last year. Now, i understand that tony, as the asvel owner, was upset that victor left. But still, the guy was just dominating the french league at age of 19. Isn't it enough improving ? Isn't it good enough to prepare for the NBA ? No need to bring the Euroleague thing, that is mostly brought by detractors.

    - and lately, he said "it's now time for Victor to do like us and bring trophies in SA" or something like that. A subtil way to recall everyone of his own accomplishments. I don't imagine manu or tim formulating it this way.

On a side note, he did that again when the french national team won silver medals after his retirement ("only les matters" bla bla bla...)

Once again, not a big deal as you said, without any doubt. there won't be any problem with that, on the contrary, tony will act correctly. But still, i sometimes would like tony to sound a little more genuinely enthusiastic about players or teams others that the ones he played for or now own.

Sure Tony and Wemby should have mutual respect. But from a mentor sense, Timmy and Manu will be more of a mentor compared to Tony

Well, it wasn't a breakup as clean/logical as that.

Parker has done a lot of great things for his team but he has also done some questionable moves. One of these questionable moves was, instead of hiring a great coach, to have his brother as a coach. Wembanyama's clan thought Parker's brother wasn't good enough to develop Victor and they left.

Wembanyama leaving ASVEL has had some bad consequences for them:
    - All the hype/money generated around Wembanyama didn't benefit ASVEL.
    - The NBA buyout money won't go to ASVEL.
    - Wembanyama's team beat them in french league playoffs.
    - Following Wembanyama's footstep, Zaccharie Risacher (current top 3 in the 2024 mock draft) is leaving ASVEL. Wembanyama shining so much with Mets after his relatively bad ASVEL season has hurt ASVEL reputation to form young players.

Parker is bitter and thinks Wembanyama and his clan screwed him. To me, while Wembanyama may not have been perfect, the main culprit is Parker himself. I doubt he will have the humility to admit it.

I never found Parker being a likable person off the court. He had and still has a huge ego. This ego has certainly helped him to have the kind of playing career he had but it isn't a quality in everyday life.

i believe that Parker said that his team, ASVEL, was scheduled to go to the US for 2 games against a G League selection in Las Vegas next year, like the Mets did with Victor, to showcase Richaser. and even a training camp was expected in San Antonio on this occasion.

Is everything canceled for his team now that Risacher has choosen to go to another team ?

You would think that after Vic bolted last summer that they would have taken pains to reassure Risacher and his family that he would be the featured player next year. Definitely dropped the ball there. If France is going to start popping out top of the draft guys, ASVEL really needs to adapt their business model to feature them.
