A pure prime example of why we permitted Russia to survive as WW2 wound down. The question was in that circa...should we take them out whilst we had everything right there? Apparently, this Ukraine aid proposal only covers 3 months of spending. It's literally laughable how financially mismanaged the US is. US just got a credit rating downgrade but must be aiming for another.
It's not doing well but it's difficult to judge with accuracy just how badly because it's not really being traded on an open market -- these quotes are quite distorted.

The Russian Defense Ministry on Monday declared complete control of the Ukrainian airspace, claiming that its air force has destroyed about 20 more air defense system targets during ongoing operations.
“Over the past day, the Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed 8 Buk M-1 combat vehicles, S-300 and Buk M-1 air defense systems, 3 radio engineering positions with P-14 stations, 4 combat aircraft on the ground and one combat aircraft shot down in the air," Igor Konashenkov, the ministry spokesman, told a daily press briefing in Moscow.
“Russian aviation has gained air supremacy over the entire territory of Ukraine,” Konashenkov claimed.

“He added: “The whole world continues to see that the Russian defense system and the country – which claims a leading role in the arms market – is ineffective, outdated, and cannot adequately respond to modern challenges.”

So… you’re agreeing with me that we’re financially mismanaged?
Maybe, but the ROI on Ukraine spending makes it completely worth it. Putin isn't going to be able to do much of anything after this except die.
There are issues with US spending, but with two competing parties making the decisions, it is expected. If I has the answers to those questions, I would not be wasting time on ST.
However, the spending to support Ukraine to destroy our old nemesis is pennies on the dollar well worth it as it is pay back for all the crap owed and the increased power projection.

Judging by the results so far of the counter-offensive, it seems to me we're at the point of massively diminishing returns on our investment. I mostly supported the original aid packages, with some exceptions, but this is just ridiculous. Fortunately, I think this next package is going to be scaled back in Congress quite a bit.
That was the point all along so it would get us from supporting the war by proxy to being boots on the ground. We never needed to blow tons of tax dollars out in Ukraine if the powers to be didn't send Boris there to nix the peace deal. 's so stupid and such a waste!
