You don't think there will be players interested in playing alongside Victor? There will be plenty of those. Just to name one, Trae supossedly said he would be open to come to San Antonio. Then there's also draft picks and trades. PATFO will no doubt put a star next to Wemby in the next couple of years.
Either way, this wasn't the point of the argument, I don't know why you're trying to move goal posts.
The argument was that between SGA+Chat and Wemby, you pick Wemby ten times out of ten. I'm pretty sure Presti would do that trade in a heartbeat.
I hate how Bill Simmons more or less already gives it to Chet. Some weeks ago he even said: If OKC ends up finishing top3 in the West he has ro get it. As if what Wemby does isn't worth anything.
Simmons is a low talent clown. If you swapped the players OKC would be a straight up contender.
the best free agent/trade player the Spurs got was Aldridge, San Antonio doesn’t attract superstars, small market and not super interesting city. So let’s hope that they can draft one. Wemby is better than Chet no question about it but finding a SGA type player is not going to be easy. I hope the Spurs don’t go after Trae, doesn’t defend and doesn’t shoot well, he is paid 40 millions.
If you swapped Chet and Wemby OKC would beat Boston in the Finals
Well, in the same podcast, he gave it to Chet, he also claimed, das m&m's are a chocolate bars.
...and poeple are claiming, Pop becomes senile.![]()
Chet is awesome.
All respect to him.
Wemby is completely something else altogether.
I love Simmons, but the low key Wemby hate is unreal. I get he likes okc, but when he starts talking about Chet, I turn the podcast off
I don't think there's any hate
They (Simons is the majority of bb analysts) made their mind weeks ago for Chet and only absurd stats lines AND wins from Wemby could change it
He should be playing tomorrow, but that's Pop. That ankle roll wasn't even that bad.
It's tank rules. You stubbed your toe? You sit.
Just listened to JJ Re 's podcast and AGAIN same narrative about Chet being "obviously ROTY" despite praising Wemby and laughing bc stunned at what he does.
It makes no sense
if wemby does get picked as an all star and or DPOY, i don't see it as a big deal. There is groupthink and horse trading with these awards and i don't care if they clown themselves picking the white giant over the French alien.
It will take a few weeks, but the media will finally take inventory of this absurd stretch Wemby is on and he'll be the frontrunner again. Wemby is doing unreal things right now, and his second half on TNT today is going to open some eyes.
Wemby on current course is a no brainer for ROY. Leads all rookies in points, rebounds, blocks, 4th in assists last I heard.
As his overall FG % inches towards 50% this becomes even more of a slam dunk. The only edge Chet has in 3 PT FG%, playing with one of the best PGs in the league. He plays more minutes than Wemby and averages fewer boards and blocks. Pretty clear who is the bigger impact player, and the argument that Chet plays on a good team can easily be reversed to say Wemby is doing what he has despite less competent play makers supporting him.
Again, if Wembanyama was on the Thunder instead of Chet, they'd be championship favorites or among them.
cia pop securing wemby's ROTY by letting him look good in limited minutes, while the minute restriction removes the sitgma that he's not winning games
Here's an interesting stat about Tyrese Maxey this season:
- In 28 games with Embiid, he averages 41.8% from three
- In 9 games without Embiid, he averages 26.8% from three << that's when he becomes the primary focus of the opposite team
That shall tell you everything you need about the Wemby/Chet debate.
It would be a of a lot easier than trying to find a Wemby type player, tbh.
Chet is awesome, no doubt. He's a great basketball player with some unique-ish talents.
He plays hard, smart and is clutch. Everything he does, I've seen done before.
Wemby is doing what I imagined Wilt or Bill Russell did. I've never seen it in my 50 years of watching the game.
He has more stocks (blocks where he maintains control of the ball) this season than I have seen in my entire life of watching the NBA.
If both stay healthy, Wemby wins this easily. It would be an insult to the game if he doesn't.
A couple back to back poor games for Chet. Got pushed around by Theis and Plumlee tonight.
