Before all this Murray being traded stuff came up, the Lakers were going to be getting Lavine. Same thing applies, the media thinks they are going to get all sorts of assets but at the end of the day, unless someone wants to bend over for the Lakers, they don't have anything to trade that anyone wants for these big names.

After all what Murray said on the spurs... Being better than TP and Mills as a rookie because (cough) he was ruining them in practice, but spurs playing "mind games" with him...Then letting SJAx spread his BS on SA. Now Pop is a "father" to him...

Probably doesn't want to come back but his agent using spurs and/or asking him to praise Pop in case it happens... Would be VERY surprised spurs had any kind of interest after Murray showed he's not a leader, nor a good teammate, and you're not contending with him as your starting PG... Do I want this guy running a Wemby lead team? Certainly not, but would the Hawks even do that anyway? They're not getting back what they gave to SA, giving drama king Murray back to SA for less would make they look terrible.

I've gone back and forth on Murray returning. I don't see him fitting in with the current vibe of the team. DJ is seeming like the type who will sour on any team that takes him.

Defense would improve, for sure. Ultimately, I don't see the Spurs trying to re-live the past. They'll take their chances on a new player. I am very curious to see where DJ ends up, though.

I don't think it will be SA, but I do hope Murray gets moved this week to get things moving for an active trade deadline around the league.

Dejounte stock is trending downward today. Spurs may have a chance with an offer if no one steps up. Hawks should hold him out until the deadline.

Not sure I believe them, but there are reports now that Snyder is lobbying to keep DJ. I'm guessing that's going to be the 'save face' angle they are going to use if they can't move him.

DJM totally seems like the kind of guy who will respond well to a team openly shopping him and then being unable to secure any decent offers. (Actually, the last part I could see being a motivator for DJM, but not the part about him being shopped)

At this point my bet is on them keeping him, which is not a great outcome for us.
I prefer they trade him for scraps and are even worse next year, begging us for their picks back for Trae.

The Spurs should facilitate a trade as long as it doesn't involve the Atlanta assets. That would increase the value of those assets. Heck, the 2026 Spurs pick with the swap attached could become the most valuable draft pick in the league.

Murray isn't really the issue with Atlanta. Quinn knows this.

I am not certain that trying to bring him back is the best thing for the Spurs at this point. My concern is that he might stunt the growth of Victor.

Build this team through the draft, it is too early to start moving assets when so many positions need to be addressed. Find a team for McDermott, Collins and Osman and stockpile more picks. Too bad the value of Collins has dropped so far of late.

Two schools of thought don't bring in anyone that can channel Victor for leadership of team. The next is get the team as good as possible as soon as possible. I would like to think Victor is mature enough to not be beta'd or threatened by a good player with experience on the team. Why woud DJM being on the team hamper Victor's development? The problem with just drafting with the draft picks is that might mean a couple of years of lots of losing before those players are good enough to help the Spurs to be a contender. That might sour Victor on San Antonio. The Spurs are better off winning with a challenge to Victor for alpha than the Spurs perennial losers with Victor being the only player worth a dange on the roster.

It was recently reported that Atlanta prefers expiring contracts in a deal with Dejounte as well as 2 1st round picks. No teams have so far offered 2 1st round picks. This seems like exactly the type of offer that the Spurs would be able to make while not screwing up future draft capital. I like McDermott and he wants to be a Spur so we just sign him back in the summer for cheaper lol. If they want more expiring contracts to make Atlanta happy i guess you could throw in Cedi in the deal too but 1st i would try...

    Spurs: Dejounte

Atlanta: McDermott, 2024 Toronto 1st round pick, 25 Bulls 1st round pick, 24 lakers 2nd round pick, 25 Bulls 2nd round pick

This seems much better than any other team would offer because these are good picks with chances to be in the lottery, way better than what most teams are offering. Atlanta can continue to "try to contend" with Trea because the picks are not tied to Atlantas success. If they must have one of their own picks back I would take out Torontos pick this year and replace it with Atlantas 2027 pick. That gives Atlanta a few more options with Trae, the option to tank in a few years or use as draft capital in a trade to continue to "contend".

If we put that on the table it'll be the best offer they have. I'd do that myself..

This is why fandom is great Dejounte and I in complete agreement. Can we be pals again man?!?

Seriously though it probably doesn’t happen but I think one snippet from an interview with All The Smoke isn’t an impediment. Ya’ll need to remember we brought Stephen Jackson back right? Do you recall we had interest in Spreewell even with PJ Carlisimo as an assistant? DJ’s contract is pretty damn good and he is an exciting player to watch. He’d also take some pressure off of Wemby on the boards tbh allowing him to leak out on the break. DJ would be averaging 15 assists a night as he isn’t scared to throw it up top. DJ made Jak a genuine scoring threat in the PnR some nights. Like those two had chemistry. This could be a great duo ehile we fill and develop the rest of the roster.

Hmmm... I don't like it, NOLA has a lot of interesting pieces that could fit Atlanta, like Herb Jones. I'd prefer them to stand pat if that's the case.

The gossip rags it sounds like NOLA also like Okongwu. So probably could be something like Jonas/Herb for DJ/Okongwu, with some lesser picks to ATL.

That report was false. He's a very good player on a good contract.
