Wemby played awful tonight. Spurs definitely miss some gimmies, but they got wemby the ball in a faborable position against small guards more often than they didnt and he almost always just walked thr ball to the 3 pt line for a handoff. Wemby was constantly getting in the way of others from hitting the paint and when he was there, he had no idea what to do or ran away from a mismatch.
Wemby was tough to watch tonight.
Once again, this is why you get a real PG for this team. Someone who can make everyone's life better. None of these kids know how to run an offense and are developing such bad habits.

He had Murray on him multiple times in the low postboff of designed plays. It was the game plan, announcers even commented on it. not saying he’s exempt of critic but u have to look at the big picture and how his teammates make his life difficult as much as his opponents…
you’re also ignoring the energy expenditure bc he’s so active on defense and has no help on offense/no relief from his teammates
so yeah, anyone would struggle with these teammates. You’re at best expecting absurd productions all the time.

Wemby needs to get more confident shooting over guards in the midrange. Teams have realized they can just stick a guard on him and pack the paint with 4 defenders. Even if he makes the right read and kicks it out, there’s a good chance he’s kicking it to a 30% shooter
The Rockets wrote the blueprint tbh. Who on the Spurs are you supposed to be scared of from 3? Vassell?
Wemby's performance isn't the problem but results of many problems
Starting with Pop and his absurd rotations or absence of game plan or playmaking for Wemby
Finishing with Tre and Sochan who shouldn't start or finish an NBA game

Did you guys even watch the video. There were multiple instances of wembys mistakes being highlighted. This forum is just unbearable. Yeah the supporting cast requires upgrade but this constant fanboism of deflecting all mistakes of wembenyama to all his teammates and coaching staff is getting old.
There was plenty of blame to go around last night. Wemby has no need for you sensitive fanbois to go in and cyber protect him. He’s a grown man.
It’s mostly that Pauleta guy. He’s a wemby-only fan with no attachment to the Spurs

How did he get exposed? On defense, that is.
Jokic is by far the best player in the league right now and one of the best offensive players ever.
Our roster is more or less the worst defensive team in history without Wemby on the floor.
Jokic shot a bunch of floaters over him and bullied him down low a couple of times. What's a rookie supposed to do against that?
I'll never blame Wemby for being caught out of position in some situations as long as every single one of his teammate is a massive negative on defense.
If we talk offense, yeah, Wemby's turnovers are really frustrating to watch at this point.
He needs to understand that those low passes in the paint are really low percentage and he needs to stop trying to make them so frequently.
But still, if you rewatch the first quarter, our offense was one of the worst things I've ever seen. We legit couldn't get a single clean look from a good position and Wemby's turnovers were mostly a result of him trying to create something because his guards couldn't.
At this point I'm sick of this roster. Nuggets looked like 2004 Pistons out there until they got a 20 points lead and started coasting.
Yeah, they're the best team in the league, but it's 2024 and even the worst team should be able to run some decent offense.
And I'm really close to being done with Devin.
Someone who got 150 million as a guard should either be an elite defender or be able to at least get to the rim efficently.
He can't do either. Useless when his shot isn't falling. And way too passive, deferring to clearly worse players in Jeremy and Tre.
If you want to put it down to him not being healthy, then he's never healthy.

we can look at the bright side, Wemby is not as ready as we think and the Spurs don't need to rush next year and break the bank to go after Trae Young. Maybe, draft picks plus a couple of veterans is sufficient and the Spurs can wait 2025 and try to go after another disgruntled star (Doncic, Giannis..)?

I swear the spurs can have prime curry, Lebron, duncan, magic and Jordan next to wemby, with bird and hakeem coming off the bench and these wemby fans will still moan and because the team didn’t blow the other teams by 60 points every game because magic can’t shoot, furry can’t rebound and Lebron is mentally weak and make wemby looks bad.
